The village air felt heavy that day, as though the impending storm could be sensed by every living being. The sun had barely risen when Prem awoke to the low growls and muted footsteps outside his small home. He rushed to the window, his pulse quickening when he saw three strangers.....Kael, Arden, and Maia....standing near the edge of his yard, their eyes fixed on the house. They moved with a predatory grace that left no doubt of their nature: Boun's pack had come.

Boun sensed their presence even before Prem stepped outside, and his muscles tensed. He knew this confrontation was inevitable, but it was far too soon. His eyes met Prem's, silently conveying his unspoken fears. "Stay close," he said, his voice low but firm.

Prem nodded, swallowing hard. He stepped onto the porch, his hands trembling as he gripped the wooden railing. Kael's eyes, bright and sharp, landed on Prem, and a smirk curled his lips.

"So, this is where our missing alpha has been hiding?" Kael drawled, his tone both mocking and laced with curiosity.

"Enough," Arden cut in, his voice commanding and unyielding. He stepped forward, eyes narrowing at Boun. "Boun, you are of the pack. We've tracked you for days, following the scent trail you've left. Your absence puts us all at risk."

Boun stepped protectively in front of Prem. "I'm here now. There's no need to cause trouble."

Maia's green eyes softened as she looked between Prem and Boun. "This is about more than you, Boun. Our territory is being threatened. We need our alpha."

Prem felt the weight of every word. This was Boun's world, his duty—and now Prem was at its heart. "He can't leave," Prem blurted out, voice trembling. "You don't understand—"

Kael's laugh cut him off, sharp and cold. "Oh, we understand plenty, human. The question is, do you understand the danger you're bringing upon yourself?"

Boun's jaw clenched. "Enough, Kael."

Arden's eyes never left Prem. "You've grown... attached, haven't you?"

"It's not your concern," Boun shot back, his voice carrying the edge of a growl. "He's under my protection."

"That makes it our concern," Arden countered, stepping forward. "If this human puts the pack at risk—"

"I'll handle it," Boun interjected, his tone leaving no room for argument. "Whatever it takes, I'll protect him."

Prem felt torn, fear tightening its grip on his chest. He had never been the center of someone's fight before. He glanced at Boun, who stood tall, every muscle taut, ready to defend him even against his own kind.

Suddenly, the distant sound of human voices and barking dogs echoed through the forest. The pack's attention snapped in that direction. The hunters. They were growing bolder, venturing closer to the village every day.

Arden's eyes blazed with anger. "You've put us all in jeopardy."

Before Boun could respond, Prem's father stumbled into the clearing, his face twisted in rage. "So this is it?" he spat at Prem, his voice loud and wild. "This is what you bring upon us? Monsters in our village because of you?"
