Prem's heart raced, fear tightening its grip on him.
His eyes darted through the chaos, and there, in the thick of the fray, he saw Boun locked in battle with a powerful wolf, their movements blurs of strength and fury.
But Prem's focus shifted in an instant when he heard a strangled cry. He whipped around to see his father......his father, who had always looked at him with disdain and blame......cornered by one of Alex's feral wolves.
"FATHER!" Prem screamed, his legs moving before his mind could catch up. He pushed past the panicking villagers, his breath ragged. The wolf lunged, sinking its teeth into his father's neck. Blood sprayed, and Prem's world narrowed. "NO! NO!"
He reached his father just as the light in the older man's eyes began to fade. Trembling, Prem knelt by him, his hands pressing against the wound in a futile attempt to stop the bleeding. "Father...please," Prem whispered, his voice breaking. Tears streamed down his cheeks. His father's hand, bloodied and weak, reached for him.
"I'mm S-Sssorry...s-son..." he gasped. A final breath left him, and his hand went limp.
Prem's scream tore from his throat, raw and full of grief. Everything felt unreal, the horror too immense to comprehend. "What is happening?" he sobbed, clutching his father's body. The world blurred around him.

Amidst the chaos, Boun fought fiercely, his wolf form a whirlwind of strength as he took down another attacking wolf.
