chapter four
the breakup

the next day of filming started later in the day. madelaine's call time was 1pm, so she had time to sleep in late, take her time getting ready and take the elevator downstairs to the hotel cafe.

walking into the small coffee shop, she noticed a familiar figure sitting at the counter. his face was stuffed in a book as he sipped on an iced coffee, a half eaten muffin on a napkin in front of him.

"morning, bookworm." she says, approaching her costar.

"madelaine, hi." drew looks up in surprise and smiles at her. "sleep well?"

"yeah, this is probably the best hotel i've ever stayed in. i had room service waiting for me once i got to my room last night." she smiles, sitting down the high chair beside him.

drew chuckles. "can i get you a coffee?" he tilts his head at her, taking in her appearance before closing his book and setting it down on the counter beside his own cup.

"i'd take an iced matcha, actually if you don't mind." madelaine tells him, earning a soft smile from the boy.

"one matcha coming right up." he says before turning to the barista working behind the counter. while he ordered, madelaine grabbed the book he was just reading, examining the embellished cover. across the cover read 'harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban'.

"so you're a potterhead, huh?" she smiles, flipping through the book she had already read herself.

"a certified gryffindor." drew proudly smiles.

"no way, me too!" she smiles back at him.

"yeah, i can see." he tells her.

"really? how?" she curiously asks him, tilting her own head this time.

"you look exactly like a weasley." drew smirks, raising his eyebrows, obviously proud of his joke.

madelaine scoffs, a wide smile spreading across her face at his sense of humor. "hey! i take good care of this hair." she laughs, smoothing out her long hair from top to bottom.

"i can see that too," drew nods, taking a sip of his drink. "it looks good."

madelaine wasn't quite sure how to respond to the compliment. it took her slightly aback. was he flirting? was he just being nice? thankfully, she didn't have to say anything because the barista came over with her drink.

"one iced matcha." she smiles.

"thank you." madelaine smiles at her.

drew looks at her quizzically as she takes a sip. "is matcha really that good?" he asks with a doubtful voice.

"it's delicious!" she laughs. "wanna try? i'm sure you'll love it" she offers, holding the cup out to him.

"it's all yours." he chuckles.

"are you on set today?" she asks him before taking another sip.

"yep, one o'clock." he nods, folding his arms, leaning his elbows against the counter and looking at the girl.

"me too. i'll see you there then." she smiles.

"wouldn't miss it." he grins back.

madelaine takes a five dollar bill out of her purse and holds it out to drew. "here. for the drink."
