Jihoon was unable to come to Dragon Palace the day of the birth or even the next day.
He had been on a business trip abroad when his wife informed him that she was in labour. Even when he already cut his business trip short and rushed back home in a private jet, he still only managed to arrive three days later.
Fortunately for him, his wife Jia and Alice already went ahead to visit the new twins the same day that they were born.
When he finally met his newest grandsons, he was once again shocked to learn that his other daughter also gave birth to twins. Nobody told him, not even his wife. They kept it a complete secret from him. At first, he was stunned before feeling extremely proud.
His two daughters were so capable! Both of them produced a set of twins each in just one shot!
Although there were no precedent of producing twins in the Kim genealogy before this, it couldn't be a coincidence that his two daughter were able to give birth to twins one after another. Jennie and Jisoo were sisters while Lisa and Jiyong weren't blood-related at all despite calling each other brothers. Hence, the common factor could only come from Jennie and Jisoo being blood sisters.
Jihoon felt like he could hold his head high in front of both the Manoban and Kwon clans for having such blessed daughters. Because of his daughters, the Manoban and Kwon clans no longer had to worry about producing the next generation. They were two heirs per clan in one go!
This excitement allowed him to ignore his disappointment for not making it in time to name one of his grandsons again.
He held one of the twins.
His wife, Jia, carried the other one. Neither of them had an idea which one was the eldest and which one was the youngest. Unlike the Manoban twins who were fraternal, the Kwon twins were completely identical.
Mysteriously though, only Jiyong and Jennie could differentiate between the identical twins at this point without having to look at the tags. Even the mother, Jisoo, still couldn't differentiate her own twin babies from each other.
"How can the two of you recognize who's who?" she asked, feeling amazed and frustrated at the same time.
"Of course, I know who's who," Jiyong replied. "Although they're identical twins, they still don't look completely the same."
Jennie nodded. "Little Misha has a slightly lopsided mouth while Little Dima has a...hmmm, how should I describe it? Little Dima has this same gentle aura as Big Sister."
Everyone crowded around the twins to search for what Jennie just said—Little Misha's lopsided mouth and Little Dima's gentle aura.
They turned their heads to the right but couldn't see any lopsided mouth or sense any "gentle" aura. Then they turned their heads to the left but still failed.
Disappointed, they could only look at Jennie and Jiyong in envy and awe.
What kind of monstrous vision did these two have?
Even Jisoo felt envious of her husband and sister. She was the mother yet she still couldn't differentiate between her babies.
The doctor assured her, "Don't worry, Mrs. Kwon. You'll eventually be able to differentiate your twins. Mothers will always be the one who knows their children the best."
"That's right," Faye interjected and patted her daughter's hand.
She felt comforted. "Thanks, Doctor. You too, Mother."
After the check-up, the doctor left the delivery room which was once again transformed into a comfy bedroom. Jisoo was in bed while watching everyone doting on her newborn babies.
"How was Big Brother when he was accompanying you during the childbirth?" Jennie asked.
Everyone pricked their ears. They also wanted to know.
She pouted and rolled her eyes at her husband. Her expression was enough to give the others idea of what transpired.
"Did he give you a hard time, my girl?" Grandpa demanded. "Tell me, I want to know!"
Jiyong frowned. "Nonsense. I was perfectly supportive of my wife!"
"Supportive?" Jisoo remembered all her grievances. "You were about to beat up the doctor and her team! I was so stressed out because of you that I was already prepared to give birth by myself!"
"What?!!!" Grandpa was enraged. He smacked Jiyong's back several times and scolded his stinky pinheaded grandson.
Jisoo: "And..and...you even called your own sons ugly!"
Jiyong: "Well, they are ugly."
Grandpa: "Jiyong!!!" (smack, smack, more smacks!!!)
Jennie chuckled. "I said the same thing as soon as I saw my own twins. Newborn babies are so ugly. Right, hon?"
"En." Lisa nodded.
Jihoon and Jia shook their heads.
"But don't worry, Big Sister," Jennie said. "Little Misha and Little Dima will soon become cute in a few days. That's what happened to your nephews."
"Er, t-thanks?" she felt helpless at her husband and sister.
She and Jennie were sisters and yet her husband and her sister felt more like the real siblings. They were so similar! Both had no filter at all.
Later, everyone left except for Jiyong and Faye to let Jisoo and the newborn twins rest more.
Jisoo was trying to breastfeed Little Misha—or was it Little Dima? She wasn't sure which one.
"It's Little Dima," Jiyong told her.
"Oh, thanks."
She tried hard. Her mother, Faye, even assisted her.
"This.." Faye shook her head. "There's not enough milk."
"N-no, I'll try again." she was determined to breastfeed her babies.
Unfortunately, her mother was right. She didn't have enough milk. Her eyes watered.
"I'm such a failure as a mother," she cried.
Jiyong scowled. "The hell you are! Don't ever say that again."
"It's just the third day and my milk has already run out!" she felt useless and depressed..
