"You know that I would never willingly do anything to hurt you, Kit Kat...I'm the only one that went looking for you when you left, not your mother...me I took care of you when you had cancer and thought you were going to die." Charlie said tearfully. "I'm trying to get my life back together, so I can come back to you and tell you that I am sorry for everything that your mother and I put you through in your childhood, but I am not there yet."
"Did you allow her back in the house?" Katerina asked without much emotion.
"She showed up on my doorstep, Kat...I couldn't really turn her away...I still love her."
"What happened to the promise that you made to me after she walked out on us?" She asked a little more upset this time, but I couldn't tell if she was mad or sad. "You were supposed to keep her away from me."
"I'm sorry Kat, but she is still my wife and I owe her-"
"You don't owe her shit...she left us remember? She gave up on us the moment she walked out that door." She argued back. "Charlie, you are only going to get hurt again and I don't want that for me...I just got my life back and I don't want to see her ever again." She walked over to me and held my hand tightly. "Let him go, Christian...I don't want to press charges and tell Tipton that I am sorry for wasting his time."
"Are you sure that's what you want?" I asked slightly worried about her.
"If it wasn't then I wouldn't have said it." She answered with an unsure smile. "Just let him go home to his wife and we can get back to work."
I gave her an affirming nod before letting go of her hand and reached into my pocket for the keys.
"When I uncuff you I want you to get up and leave without looking back." I said as I knelt down and grabbed his arm. "Do you understand?"
"Yes officer Christian." The man answered with a stupid smile on his face. "Thank you Kat."
"Don't thank me, just leave me alone."
"I can't do that...your mother won't allow it." He said as I unlocked the door. "She might have left us, but that didn't mean that she stopped care about us...especially you."
"If she really loved me then she would have taken me with her." Kat retorted with a small sigh. "I'm good with never seeing her again."
"How can you be so cold? She gave you life." He asked as he stood up.
"Yeah, but you were more of a mother than she ever was...who took me to every doctor's appointment, to school, and not to mention made sure that I had food in my stomach every night, because it damn sure wasn't her."
"That's not entirely true, she was there when you were fighting for your life and made attempts at finding your father when you asked about him...and she held you after we found out that you were in remission." Charlie defended one last time. "But you are stuck on all the bad memories that you forgot that she was there during the hardest moments in your life." He said as he stood by the door. "My number is on the bar if you ever change your mind about seeing her."
"Thanks, but I doubt I will need it." Kat said with a small barely noticable smile.
"Just think about it Kitty Kat." And with that said Charlie walked out of the bar, just as my partner was walking in.
"God I'm glad we weren't being robbed or something worse." She said as she rolled her eyes. "But they called you for nothing officer, because I'm not pressing charges."
"Well I still need to know what happened for the report." Tipton said softly as he finished whatever he was eating. "Even if you don't want to press charges...I still have to make a report since I am here."
