The lecture felt long, but Ellie stayed focused and determined to keep her grades up. As the teacher talked, she glanced at the new guy who had all the girls buzzing. While they were practically drooling over his looks, Ellie couldn’t help but admire him too. He was ridiculously handsome—his sharp features and intense eyes were hard to ignore. But the whole delinquent vibe? Yeah, no thanks. She wasn’t looking to get mixed up with someone like that.

Fortunately, her bullies, Jake, Emily, and Mathew, were in a different class, and could not cause her harm. When the bell rang, signaling the end of the period, the teacher gathered their stuff and left. Immediately, a crowd of girls swarmed Damien’s desk, flirting and giggling as they bombarded him with questions. Meanwhile, Kelly was chill at her desk, buried in a book and just waiting for the next class.

Ellie’s friends—Alice, Luna, and Chloe—came rushing over, practically bursting with excitement. Chloe leaned in, eyes shining, and said, “Ellie, have you seen the new boy?” Luna jumped in, practically bouncing in her seat. “He’s so cute! Should I ask him out?”

Before Alice could process Luna’s excitement, she chimed in, “No way! I spotted him first, so I should get to ask him!” The banter quickly turned into a lighthearted argument about who’d get the first shot at asking him out.

Ellie, watching all this unfold, finally couldn’t hold back. “Okay, he’s cute and all, but seriously, why would you want to date someone you just met? I don’t care about his life or whatever,” she said, shrugging it off.

Luna shot back, a smirk on her face, “Well, it’s not like he cares about you either.” Alice and Chloe burst out laughing, the room filled with their teasing. But Ellie, staying cool under pressure, replied with a smirk, “That’s rich coming from someone who chases after guys; at least I still have my dignity.”

Feeling embarrassed, Luna and the others huffed off, and Ellie figured they’d be back soon enough; after all, their interests often circled something shiny—like money. Just then, she noticed Mathew and Jake walking into the room, heading her way. But before she could say anything, Emily barged in with a bucket full of water, aiming right at Ellie and drenching her in front of everyone. The class erupted into laughter, leaving Ellie in shock, soaking wet, and wide-eyed as the jokes flew around her.
