Karim sat at his desk, staring at his laptop screen as if willing an email to appear. Every day since submitting his application for the exchange program, his nerves had been on edge. Amara had been his greatest source of comfort, her words of encouragement making the wait bearable.

"You know, you're going to drive yourself crazy refreshing that page every five minutes," Amara teased during one of their video calls.

He chuckled softly. "I can't help it. This isn't just about school—it's about us."

Amara's expression softened. "I know, and I believe in you. But whether it happens or not, Karim, I'll always be here for you."

Her words warmed his heart. She was his anchor, the reason he felt brave enough to take this leap.

Later that evening, he lay in bed replaying their conversation. He thought about how far they'd come—from strangers across continents to a couple deeply in love. The idea of being apart for much longer was unbearable, but he reminded himself that their love had already survived so much.

The next morning, an email notification jolted him awake. He stared at the subject line: Exchange Program Application Decision. His hands trembled as he clicked it open.

Amara's phone buzzed a few minutes later. "Karim?" she answered groggily, her voice filled with concern.

"It's me," he said breathlessly. "Amara, I got in!"

Her shriek of joy was loud enough to make him laugh. "I told you!" she exclaimed. "This is it, Karim. You're coming back to me!"

His heart swelled with hope. For the first time in weeks, the future felt like something they could touch.
