Killua stood at the gates of U.A high with a haughty grin across his lips, even though it didn't reflect what he was feeling in his heart. He'd gotten into the school, as expected. But he wasn't as happy about it as he thought he'd be. In fact, he couldn't remember the last time he'd actually been genuinely happy. Well, he probably could if he thought hard enough. But that would only make his heartache. Thankfully the pain was a lot easier to bear due to the pills Mitsuki had given him, pills made from a quirk that would combat his drug immunity.
Killua's teeth gritted as he made his way into the building, shoving past other students. I can't believe that dumbass made it in. I have a 50% chance of being stuck with him. Just the other day as he'd been congratulated on his acceptance by his homeroom teacher, he'd learned that damn Deku passed the exam. It was like the quirkless loser was insistent on making his life miserable. It wasn't long before he was able to locate class 1-A. His eyes quickly scanned the room, a disgruntled expression on his face as several pairs of eyes turned in his direction. He's not here, good.
"Hey, aren't you that guy who got attacked by that sludge villain?"
"Tch." Killua didn't even bother throwing his new pink-skinned classmate a scowl, deciding to ignore the remark entirely. He found an empty seat and kicked his feet up on the desk with a sigh, placing his hands behind his head as he began to relax. I'm more than halfway to my goal now. No sooner than he'd kicked his feet up did he hear a disapproving 'tsk' from nearby.Killua turned his eyes to the blue-haired nerd who was giving him a disapproving look. "The hell are you looking at, extra?" He spat. The teen stood up and shot him a stern look. "Take your feet off of that desk now." He demanded.
"It's the first day of school and you're already disrespecting this academy by scuffing school property you cretin!"
Killua rolled his eyes, crossing one of his feet over the other to get more comfortable as he lounged comfortably. "Did your old school put a stick up your ass or were you born with it?" He taunted. He was equal parts grateful and irritated by encounters such as this. On one hand, it was a pretty good distraction from the suffocating guilt. On the other, it was really goddamn annoying. His classmate cleared his throat and placed a hand over his chest. "Let's start over, I believe we got off on the wrong foot. I'm Tenya Iida from the Somei Private Academy." He introduced himself.
"Somei, huh? You must think you're better than me. I'm gonna have fun tearin' you a new one."
He sneered, hoping his hostility would finally make this idiot back off. Iida gasped, taking a step back. "You would threaten me? Your own classmate? Are you sure you're in the right place?" Killua paused for a moment, scowling in the other direction. It's not like I'm actually thinking about killing you or anything. Idiot. Just as he was about to shoot another insult at him, he heard a familiar voice from behind him. "Oh yeah- I know! I'm Izuku Midoriya. It's super nice to meet you." Killua stiffened, refusing to even look at him. He felt something twist in his gut, a strange mix between anxiety and frustration.
Are you fucking kidding me? Why?
Killua hated that stupid nerd and his stupid face. He hated everything Deku reminded him of. Killua drowned out the conversation as best as he could, trying his best to focus on something, anything else. As he was trying to find a distraction, he sensed a presence laying on the ground near the doorway. Killua didn't bother looking for it, not wanting to stare at that dumbass face any longer than he had to. It wasn't just the fact that he acted like Gon on a surface level, it was the fact he acted like Gon without all the traits that made him likable.
I really am unlucky, aren't I.
Killua had been unlucky all his life, he'd simply been born surrounded by misfortune. Out of all the families in the world, he just had to be a Zoldyck. Killua's jaw clenched and his eyes darkened slightly as he recalled his mother breaking down in sobs at the thought of him having the audacity to choose his own path in life. He was cursed from the very beginning to live a miserable life.
As he was lost in thought, Killua felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned to his left to see a teen with spiked red hair. "Hey man, we're going outside." Killua's eyes darted around the room, most of the class was leaving. He hadn't realized just how long he'd been out of it for. "Don't touch me, extra." He snapped, swinging his legs to the side and dropping them to the floor as he exited the room along with the rest of the class. Killua hesitated as soon as he spotted the sign next to the door they were heading for. Locker rooms? Shit. Killua's back was covered in horrible scars. There was no way in hell he could change in a room full of guys like that. It would completely shatter his facade.
Killua made a show of scoffing and turning his back to the locker room, instead making his way out to the field without changing. When he got there, his homeroom teacher narrowed his eyes. "Bakugou, why aren't you wearing your P.E uniform?" Killua shoved his hands in his pockets with a sneer. "It's ugly. I'm not wearing that trash!" The man took a step forward, giving Killua a tired yet stern glare. "Don't make me expel a student on the first day, kid. Because in my classroom you follow my rules. And I don't make exceptions."
By the time I get back to the locker room, everyone should be done changing anyways.
"Tch, old man."
He spat, storming off to the locker rooms again. Thankfully the entire class had cleared out. Killua would be late, but at least he wouldn't attract suspicion. I'll need to think of a long term solution though. Being late like that isn't an option. Killua sucked in a breath as he shed his U.A uniform, donning his P.E one. You can do this, Katsuki. He told himself.
Just a little more.
