EVELYN HARPER bustled her way through the busy train station with ease, due to her 5,3 stature. it was an advantage, and disadvantage being her height.
Most of the girl her age tended to be of that size range in height, so she didn't dwell on the fact all that much truly.
Her dark brown eyes landed on her dearest cousin, ruby gillis. the gillis family waved over the young girl who had three whole suitcases wheeling behind her.
"evelyn!" ruby exclaimed once the two blondes were close enough to be in within reaching distance.
"now, now, ruby." her mother patted the young girls shoulder, politely telling her daughter to hush. "sorry" she muttered shyly looking down at her pretty black boots.
"it is a pleasure to see you, evelyn" her father spoke in a polite tone.
"the pleasure is mine" evelyn spoke softly.
the man took the three suitcases off of the blonde girl, and began his treck back to there carriage. "i am so deeply happy that you are here" ruby tugged on the girls furry overcoat.
"i am happy to be here" evelyn replied in a soft manner.
"avonlea is lovely, dear." rubys mother spoke in a firm tone of voice. much like evelyn's mother.
"i just wish it was under better circumstances" the older woman looked off down the crowded bustle of residents boarding the train.
"me too" evelyn replied quietly although rubys mother did not hear.
"susan has got a husband now" ruby whispered.
"she does?" evelyn's dark brown eyes lit up. "yes, and he's splendid" ruby replied with a cheeky grin. "that's lovely, i'm very happy for her" the harper girl replied with a glance over to the older gillis sister.
"did your mother pack you some pretty dresses?" ruby asked softly.
"the best of the best" evelyn replied charmingly. her freckled dotted cheeks pale due to the cool temperatures. "oh good. you will be attending school, won't you?" ruby asked the girl beside her.
"i shall, yes" evelyn replied modestly.
"oh, wonderful!" ruby exclaimed rather loudly causing her mother to hush the girl , and send her on her way by herself.
