EVELYNwas stood beside josie, tillie and jane. they were all stood in front of a 'notice board' of wich josie called it.
"diana, anne, come see!" josie called out for the two girls.
"this is.." evelyn went to comment on it. "marvellous!" josie expressed with a light pink across her cheeks. "yeah..just that" evelyn agreed sarcastically earning a small giggle from tillie.
"someone has resurrected the take notice board with a post about me." josie expressed harmlessly to anne and diana.
evelyn had come to school early due to her cousin running a little bit late. josie also wanted to walk with evelyn to school for a pretty walk together. the two had become pretty close during the past week or two.
this was actually her first day of school at avonlea so she was quite nervous but she seemed to know a few of the girls.
the girls commented on it a bit causing evelyn and tillie to giggle with eachother.
"the scandal will be when folks find out it was you" jane stated. evelyn made an 'o' shape with her mouth exchanging looks with a few of the girls.
"you're a sly one, jane, since i'm sure it was you who put this up" josie defended shakely.
evelyn clutched onto her crème coloured scarf with her gloved hands. it was very cold in avonlea but thankfully she had packed well and fashionably.
"who else might've seen me strolling home with billy?" josie said sassily.
"everyone will know now" tillie expressed eagerly.
"oh, dear. then again, i suppose it's a good thing since we should all stake our claim on our paramours" josie stated proudly.
evelyn knew she was way too shy to speak out in such a confident way like josie always did. she admired the slightly older girl for this. she also couldn't see moody yet around the school. she didn't even know the boy nor had she spoken a word to him yet.
but she wanted to.
"at this age we should all be promised to someone" tillie admiringly stated.
"wouldn't want to wind up an old maid. can't that run in a family?" josie discreetly insulted anne. "josie" evelyn hissed lowly.
josie shrugged.
"i'm so confused!" ruby made her appearance clear. "we're of age now, but gilbert hasn't made any advances yet." evelyn sighed at her cousin dramatically.
"think of all the fresh, eye catching talent that will be at queens next year." josie tried to cheer up her friend.
evelyn assumed queens was the next level of education. but she also hoped she would be home by then to meet her mother and father once more.
"but i'm only going to queens to be near gilbert!" ruby expressed rather dramatically in evelyn's eyes.
"oh my—" evelyn stopped herself drastically so she wouldn't make her cousin cry even more. anne thankfully led the girl away and into the schoolhouse.
evelyn decided to follow her cousin and anne. she walked up the steps politely and opened the schoolhouse door.
"oh—sorry." a voice sounded out as she nearly walked into a body.
she looked up a little and met moody spurgeons eyes.
"evelyn?" anne's voice made her snap back into reality. "right, sorry.." evelyn muttered an apology to no one in particular as she walked into the schoolhouse.
anne then began to talk with the two girls deeply.
evelyn admired the girls words of wisdom for her clearly distraught cousin.
she couldn't help but feel a hue of pink coat her cheeks however when thinking back to when moody apoligised to her. she knew she was just being delusional and he was just being polite.
diana smiled at evelyn and ushered for her to walk into the classroom with her.
evelyn hesitated but ended up linking arms with the girl.
little did evelyn know she was being watched by moody spurgeon. "hello, evelyn" diana smiles in greeting as she makes her way to her desk.
"hello, diana" evelyn returned the polite gesture.
"are you ready for your first term here?" she asked the harper girl as she put her books onto the desk.
"a little nervous, but yeah" evelyn smiled weakly.
"it'll be alright. i'm sure everyone will think your splendid" diana politely said. "your very friendly with josie pye, i have seen" diana commented.
"yeah, she's a really nice girl" evelyn grips the sides of her dress with a nod.
"she can be." diana said lowly.
"are you good friends with anne?" evelyn asks in return. "yes" diana smiles over at the carrot haired girl. evelyn liked all of the girls at avonlea. they all were different but similiar.
she really liked the way all of them resembled certain things and she really did like it here.
