The days following Aki's arrival at U.A. fell into a pattern. Therapy sessions with Zora, classroom lessons, and long silences where Aki tried to process her shifting world. There was nothing extraordinary about them - but for Aki, "ordinary" was its own kind of challenge. Each step in her new routine felt like walking on unstable ground, and yet, she kept moving forward.
The morning sun filtered through the curtains of the dorm room as Aki stirred from sleep. The soft weight of the blanket was comforting, though the persistent whispers of her inner voices reminded her that her peace was fragile. Eri's voice broke through the haze as the younger girl leaned over, bright-eyed.
"Good morning! Are you ready for breakfast?"
Aki nodded groggily, sitting up and brushing her tangled, blondish hair away from her face. The mornings were Eri's favorite part of the day, and her cheerful energy was a small but steadying force in Aki's life.
Downstairs, the kitchen was already alive with the smell of warm toast and scrambled eggs. Aki hesitated before reaching for a plate, but Eri was quick to hand her one.
"You can have some of mine if you want," Eri offered, her smile earnest.
Aki shook her head and focused on the food in front of her. Eating felt more manageable with Eri's gentle encouragement, and though her appetite was small, she finished more than usual.
The walk to school was brisk, the cold morning air sharpening Aki's senses. Class 1A greeted her with a mix of curiosity and familiarity as she took her seat. The day's lessons began with a steady rhythm - math, science, and history blending into a quiet background hum as Aki absorbed as much as she could.
It wasn't until the third period that the class was assigned a group task: a collaborative puzzle designed to test teamwork and problem-solving skills. Aki found herself grouped with Todoroki, Momo, and Kaminari. The puzzle was an intricate map with scattered clues that required logical connections to reveal a hidden path.
Momo took the lead, her calm and organized manner making the task seem almost simple. "If we start with these corner pieces, we can establish the framework," she explained, placing the first few tiles down with precision.
Aki hovered on the edge, unsure of where to begin. Todoroki slid a piece toward her. "This might fit here," he said without emotion, but his tone encouraging rather than insistent.
Tentatively, Aki picked up the piece and placed it where he indicated. It clicked into place.
As the puzzle took shape, Momo noticed Aki hesitating over another piece. "You're doing great, Aki. Why don't you try matching the color patterns here?"
Aki followed her suggestion, and another section of the map began to emerge. Slowly, she felt a flicker of confidence.
"It reminds me of this puzzle I had as a kid," Aki murmured, more to herself than the group. "I never finished it, though."
Aki immediately stopped in her doing's. She didnt mean to say that. She has no idea what she just talked about. Before participating in this group project she didn't even knew what a puzzle is!
The others glanced at her, and for a moment, there was a pause. Momo smiled warmly. "Well, let's finish this one together."
Akis heart felt warmer. As the group puzzle activity continued, Aki hesitated over a piece in her hand. The jagged edge of the cardboard seemed both familiar and alien in her grasp, the faint colors and shapes on it stirring something deep in her mind. She tilted her head, narrowing her eyes as she tried to place the fragment on the board in front of her.
