"Al, are you sure, you will go alone at the party?" Myra asked, worried about me going by myself.
"Yeah, I'm sure! Besides, Ishaan is coming. But don't tell Bhai and Miss Mathew anything about it. If they will find out, we're doomed," I said.
I've decided that from now on, I'll start talking to strangers. This way, I can improve my communication skills, interact with more people, and make new friends. Because I know, Drake Bhai won't let me do that. That way, I won't be able to talk with strangers.
I found out about this party from Ishaan. At this party, no one comes with a group—they either come with a partner or by themselves. They mingle with each other, and in doing so, they make new friends.
While sitting in the taxi, I received a text from Ishaan saying he'd arrive at the party by 11 p.m. I figured I'd reach there in about 10 minutes, as it's only 4 kilometers away from here, and it's just 10 p.m. That means I'll have to enjoy the first hour without him.
I arrived at Club Peace and entered. Soft music was playing, and the atmosphere was really peaceful! Everyone was talking slowly, with no one shouting. A smile spread across my face as I soaked in the vibe. After all, it had been five years since I'd enjoyed a party or had a drink. I hadn't even attended college proms, freshers parties, or anything like that—I was just busy with my MBA.
Anyways, let's start with soft drinks.
"So, nowadays teenagers only enjoy soft drinks?" I heard someone say, and it felt like the comment was directed at me. I turned around and saw a guy holding a drink in one hand, his other hand in his pocket. He was standing confidently, with a muscular build, wearing a white shirt, black pants, and formal shoes.
"Um... are you saying that to me?" I asked, feeling a bit flustered.
"Yeah, of course. There's no one else here who looks like a teenager," he said as he walked over to me.
"Hmm. Well, I don't drink, and by the way, I'm an adult, not a teen," I replied, trying to cover up. My brother had strictly warned me never ever drink in front of any guy, and I'd promised him, so here I was, keeping my word.
"Oh, my bad! I thought you were a teen and was already manifesting having a drink with you," he replied, clearly flirting.
I received a notification—it was Ishaan messaging, 'Sorry, Al, I've got an emergency. I can't make it to the party. Will you please go with Myra?'
I replied, 'Fine, call me once you're free!'
I put my phone in my bag and noticed the man who had been flirting was watching me curiously, waiting patiently for my response to his question.
"Okay, fine. You enjoy your drink and I will enjoy my soft drink, how's that sound?"
"Good," he smiled. I have to admit, his smile was incredibly charming.
