Joong was still sitting on the couch, staring blankly at his phone after Dunk’s call. The tension from their confrontation weighed heavily on him, and he barely noticed when his phone buzzed again. This time, Fourth’s name flashed on the screen.
With a sigh, Joong answered. “What is it, Fourth? I’m not in the mood for one of your schemes right now.”
“Whoa, easy there, Mr. Grumpy,” Fourth teased, his voice light and cheerful. “You sound like you need some good news. Lucky for you, I’ve got some!”
Joong leaned back, pinching the bridge of his nose. “What now?”
“You’re going to be an uncle!” Fourth’s voice practically bubbled with excitement.
Joong sat up straighter, caught off guard. “Wait… what? Uncle? What are you talking about?”
“Gemini and I just found out!” Fourth said proudly. “We’re going to have a baby!”
Joong blinked, the words taking a moment to register. “Gemini? Pregnant? How is that even—wait. You’re serious?”
“Dead serious,” Fourth said, his voice tinged with pride and excitement. “We found out this morning, and I couldn’t wait to tell you. Isn’t it amazing?”
Joong ran a hand through his hair, his emotions swirling. “Wow. That’s… unexpected. Congratulations, Fourth. That’s huge news.”
“I know, right?” Fourth said, clearly grinning. “Gemini’s already in full planning mode—talking about baby names, nurseries, everything. We’re over the moon. You should come back and celebrate with us.”
Joong’s heart clenched at the suggestion. Returning home meant more than just a celebration—it meant facing Dunk and the truth he’d been hiding. “I don’t know, Fourth. Things are complicated here.”
“Joong,” Fourth said, his tone turning more serious. “You’ve been hiding out for years. I know you’ve got your reasons, but you can’t keep avoiding us. Especially now. Family’s important, and Kian deserves to know he’s part of it.”
Joong glanced toward Kian’s room, guilt pressing down on him. “You know why I’ve stayed away,” he said quietly. “I don’t want to cause more problems than I already have.”
“More problems?” Fourth scoffed. “Joong, we’re family. No matter what’s going on, we deal with it together. And now there’s going to be a new little one who’ll need you just as much as Kian does. You can’t keep them isolated from everyone forever.”
Joong felt the sting of Fourth’s words, the truth he’d been avoiding staring him in the face. “It’s not that simple,” he murmured.
“It’s never simple,” Fourth said gently. “But that doesn’t mean you have to do it alone. Gemini and I want you to be part of this—both of you. Don’t you want Kian to have a family who loves him?”
Joong’s throat tightened as Fourth’s words struck a chord. He had spent so much time trying to protect Kian, but maybe Fourth was right. Maybe he was also keeping Kian from something he needed.
“I’ll think about it,” Joong said finally, his voice low.
“You better,” Fourth said, his tone brightening again. “And don’t take too long, okay? Gemini’s already planning a family dinner to celebrate, and you know how he gets when he’s excited.”
Joong couldn’t help but chuckle at that. “Yeah, I remember.”
“Good. Love you, bro. And give Kian a big hug from me.”
“I will,” Joong said softly. “Love you too.”
As the call ended, Joong sat in silence, his thoughts heavy. Fourth’s news was a bright spot in the chaos of his life, but it also reminded him of the cracks in the walls he’d built.
He glanced at the hallway leading to Kian’s room, the weight of everything pressing down on him. It wasn’t just about him anymore. It was about Kian and the family he deserved to know.
Yes Gemini is expecting 🩷 , he's too cute in sorry 😭
