The next morning, Joong arrived on set with his signature energy, dressed impeccably in designer casuals that made even the crew glance twice. His dazzling smile was firmly in place, as though the awkward exchange with Dunk the night before had never happened.
“Good morning, everyone!” Joong chirped, clapping his hands together. “Let’s make today amazing!”
The set buzzed around him as the crew prepared for the day’s shoot. Joong made it a point to chat with the makeup team, crack jokes with the lighting crew, and flash his irresistible charm at the director. He wanted—no, needed—to prove that he was fine.
But Dunk wasn’t convinced.

On Set
Dunk leaned against the edge of a prop table, arms crossed, his sharp eyes tracking Joong’s every move. He didn’t miss the way Joong’s hands occasionally drifted toward his stomach before quickly pulling away or how he subtly leaned against surfaces as though conserving energy.
“You’re staring,” Pond whispered, sidling up next to Dunk.
Dunk barely glanced at him. “He’s up to something.”
Pond followed Dunk’s gaze, watching as Joong laughed a little too hard at a joke from one of the crew members. “That’s just Joong being Joong,” Pond said with a shrug.
“No,” Dunk said quietly, his voice tinged with suspicion. “Something’s different. He’s trying too hard.”
Pond raised an eyebrow. “And you care because...?”
Dunk didn’t respond, his jaw tightening.

Between Takes
Joong sauntered over to Dunk, a bottle of water in hand and his usual confident grin plastered on his face. “Why so serious?” he teased, his tone light and playful.
Dunk looked up from his script, his expression unreadable. “You tell me.”
Joong faltered for half a second before quickly recovering. “Is this about last night?” he asked, feigning nonchalance. “I already told you it was a joke. You need to relax, Dunk. You’re going to get wrinkles.”
Dunk’s eyes narrowed slightly. “You’re not a very good liar, Joong.”
Joong’s smile didn’t waver, but his grip on the water bottle tightened. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Don’t you?” Dunk asked, his voice calm but laced with quiet intensity.
For a moment, Joong’s facade almost cracked. But he quickly shook his head, laughing it off. “You’re impossible, Dunk. No wonder everyone says you’re hard to get along with.”
Dunk said nothing, his piercing gaze following Joong as he turned and walked away.

That Evening
Joong sat on the balcony of his penthouse, a glass of sparkling water in hand. The city lights stretched out before him, but for once, they offered little comfort.
He had spent the entire day pretending everything was normal, but Dunk’s persistent questioning had rattled him more than he cared to admit. Dunk was too sharp, too observant. It was only a matter of time before he pieced everything together.
“You can do this,” Joong muttered to himself, running a hand through his hair. “Just keep your cool. Act like nothing’s wrong.”
But deep down, he knew it wasn’t that simple.

Meanwhile, Dunk’s Apartment
Dunk sat at his desk, scrolling through old press photos and interviews with Joong. He wasn’t sure what he was looking for—some clue, some crack in Joong’s perfect facade—but he couldn’t shake the feeling that something wasn’t right.
Joong’s behavior over the past few weeks had been strange enough, but the “joke” about being pregnant had thrown everything into question. Dunk didn’t believe it was a joke.
And he wasn’t about to let it go.
