Joong had barely finished cleaning up after baking cookies with Kian when his phone rang. It was the sitter, her voice frantic and full of guilt.

“Mr. Archen, I—I’m so sorry. I just realized something terrible,” she stammered.

Joong immediately tensed. “What happened? Is Kian okay?”

“He seemed fine at first, but I accidentally gave him a snack with dairy in it earlier. I thought it was one of the allergy-safe ones, but I just checked the package and—”

Joong’s blood ran cold. “You what?”

“I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to—”

“Where is he now?” Joong cut her off, already grabbing his keys.

“He’s in the playroom, but he said his stomach hurts,” she said, her voice breaking. “I didn’t know what to do.”

“I’m on my way,” Joong said sharply, hanging up before she could say anything else.

At Home

Joong burst through the door moments later to find Kian lying on the couch, his little face pale and his breathing labored. He clutched his stomach, tears streaming down his cheeks.

“Daddy…” Kian whimpered when he saw Joong.

Joong was by his side in an instant, scooping him up gently. “I’m here, sweetheart. I’ve got you.”

He turned to the sitter, who was wringing her hands in the corner. “You need to leave. Now.”

“I’m so sorry, Mr. Archen. I—”

“Just go!” Joong snapped, his voice like ice.

The sitter quickly grabbed her things and fled, leaving Joong alone with his son.

At the Hospital

Joong drove to the hospital as quickly as he could, glancing back at Kian every few seconds. His heart ached at the sight of his son in so much pain.

Once they arrived, the doctors quickly took Kian into an exam room. Joong stayed close, holding Kian’s hand and whispering reassurances as the medical team worked.

“Daddy, I don’t feel good,” Kian said weakly, his eyes glassy.

“I know, baby,” Joong said, his voice thick with emotion. “The doctors are going to make you better. Just hold on for me, okay?”

Hours Later

After administering medication and fluids, the doctors confirmed that Kian’s reaction, though severe, had been caught early enough to prevent more serious complications.

“He’s going to be okay,” the doctor assured Joong. “But he’ll need rest and close monitoring for the next few days. And be extra careful about checking food labels.”

Joong nodded, his relief palpable. “Thank you, Doctor.”

When they finally returned home, Joong tucked Kian into bed, staying by his side until he fell asleep.

The Next Morning

Joong sat at the kitchen table, his head in his hands. The events of the previous day had left him shaken. He prided himself on being a careful and attentive father, but this mistake had shown him how fragile their world could be.

As he sipped his coffee, his phone buzzed with a message from Fourth.

Fourth: Hey, heard what happened. Want me to come over?

Joong stared at the screen for a moment before typing a reply.

Joong: No, we’re okay. Just need some time.

But even as he sent the message, he felt a growing sense of unease. Dunk’s relentless questions, the incident with Kian—it was all becoming too much.

Joong knew he couldn’t keep juggling these secrets forever. Something had to give.

(P.S) I was thinking of making Kian more sick but I was like naurr , cuz he's such a cute kid
