Minji had decided tonight was the night. She had to have Hanni back. She hadn't been the same since Hanni had left her, and Minji wanted to finally show her what her life could be like as her girlfriend. Minji sat in her black Escalade, watching Oyster's from afar. She watched through the windows as Hanni gracefully rushed around the crowded restaurant with her charming personality.
She looked at Hanni as she smiled at each customer and guided her staff to take and place orders. She was truly in her element.
Minji sat and watched for another hour. She felt like a stalker, but she couldn't help herself.
Hanni looked tired when they closed for the day. She watched as Hanni hugged a redhead, Hanni's roommate, and the said roommate made her way out.
She watched Hanni enter her apartment as she saw the lights turn on the second floor. She saw Hanni's shadow move back and forth through the apartment, and then she watched as darkness flooded the place.
Minji pulled out her pen and began to write. She wasn't ready just yet to knock on Hanni's door. She would give her some time. Give herself some time to get herself together. Then she smiled to herself. The thought of waking Hanni up so she could see that cute, pissed-off face she sometimes made—the one that always caused her own heart to flutter, for some strange reason.
Hanni woke up from her sleep. Someone was at her door at...she turned to look at the clock—one in the morning? The light knocking continued. She knew that Yuqi wasn't there, which made her wary of answering the door to begin with. She only had on a flimsy white tank top, which had been washed way too many times, and her black shorts from work.
She tiptoed to the door and looked through the peephole. Shit! It was Minji. It had seemed like forever since she had seen Minji. Hanni exhaled. Minji had not contacted her, so she assumed it was over. She had hoped it was.
Another soft knock came through her door.
"Minji... what do you want?" Hanni asked, leaning her head against the door.
"I'd like to speak with you," was Minji's muffled response.
"My roommate, she's—" Hanni was about to lie.
"Not here," Minji said.
Hanni exhaled again. She had been about to say Yuqi was asleep.
"And how do you know that?"
"I have my sources."
"Kim Minji! Does that mean you've been stalking me again?" Hanni asked, irritated.
Kim Minji.
Kim Minji.
Minji's heart fluttered a little wildly every time Hanni used her full name. Not many people knew how to pronounce it correctly, so Minji always preferred not using it. But when Hanni said it... it felt like honey was rolling out of her tongue.
Silence.
"Just go away. I have nothing to say to you. Our deal or arrangement or whatever twisted word we can call it—is done. I mean, do you really even care how horrible you treated me the last time I was at your loft?"
More silence.
Hanni gave a small snort and shook her head. "No, I guess you wouldn't care about that. You don't really care about anything. And in return, nothing cares about you. So forget what I told you in that room at the club. I didn't mean it. Just chalk it up to the rest of this crazy, confusing, fucked-up relationship we had. Have a good life and leave me the hell alone," Hanni said with finality.
