It's 4:00 AM when I suddenly wake up. I must've left the window open; you can hear the ocean tidal waves from here. I can't fall back asleep, so I hop out of bed and close the window. I try to stay as quiet as possible, but I feel like an intruder in someone else's home, even though it's my home as well. I might as well get ready for my day since I always wake up at 6 or 7, now is the great time to shower. I grab a black T-shirt and a pair of dark blue denim jeans.
As I go to leave my room I see light's on from the second living room known as the gaming room. Someone must be awake. My room was the 3rd door down the hall, two more doors down was the gaming room but the door right next to it was the bathroom door. So whoever was in there would know I was awake. I tip-toed through the hall to the bathroom door, I slightly opened the bathroom door and made my way inside. I turn on the lights and take a shower. By the time I got out, it was already almost there to 5:30 AM, when I opened the bathroom door and felt the nice cold air versus the hot steam I was just in felt nice. I made my way back to my room until I got caught. "Hey you, morning."
I hear from behind me, I slowly turn around and see it is only Ivan.
"Oh hey Ivan, morning to you too." he had a gaming remote in his hand so I figured it was him in the gaming room. "Want to go with me to a barbecue tonight? My mom already said I could go so if you want to tag along you're free to come." He looks at me and I realize I am in a towel, I stand there awkwardly making my way to my room while responding.
"Yeah, I'll let you know just give me a minute."
I shut the door before he could even respond. A barbecue sounded nice, maybe I'll run into my old friends I had before I left. I stopped coming because my Father and Aunt got into a huge fight 3 summers ago, I was about 14 the last time I was here. My Dad and Aunt always fought because they were siblings after all but this one was different, and even since then they never really talked it was always a quick phone call or text for the holidays.
And after we stopped visiting it has been different. I never knew what the argument was about. Anytime I would ask it was always "None of your business" or "It doesn't matter" He would always block it off and my mom never really knew either. It was something personal. Eventually, I let it go and stopped asking. I opened my window again and the sun was already coming up making a beautiful sunrise. I thought to myself I should go walk along the beach, So I hurried up, got dressed, and flew the bedroom door open still trying to put my shoes fully on. I run-walk down the stairs and see AJ making breakfast, she looks me up and down,
"You look beautiful today." She says cutting up fresh berries from her garden. "Thank you," I say putting my hair behind my shoulder. "I made breakfast." AJ always makes homemade food and it is always the best. I could never pass that offer up.
"Thanks." I take her offer of grabbing a plate, she made waffles, eggs, and bacon along with fresh cut-up berries with a side of orange juice or smoothies in the fridge. "This is all so good, thank you." I say grabbing a fork and stuffing my mouth with waffles. Oliver and Leo are laughing at me while drinking their juice. "What's so funny?" I say with my mouth half fun of waffles.
"You got a spider on your head!" Leo points laughing still. I am not that scared of insects. But I could feel something crawling on my head. I move my head don't to get it off and it landed in my hand. It was a fake spider.
"Haha so funny.." I say with sarcasm, "You guys be nice to her." AJ repeats herself twice. "Sorry, Mom." They both reply in sync. Oliver and Leo are twins. Not identical but they're still twins.
"Sorry honey." AJ comes up and taps my shoulder. I didn't see the big problem except for almost everyone laughing at me. "It's fine, I'm going to the beach for a while." I say grabbing my handbag and heading towards the door.
