𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐈 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐏 𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝐏𝐈𝐄𝐂𝐊'𝐒 𝐂𝐀𝐑,
the music hits me, faint but building as we walk up to the front door. I've never expected anything less from Pieck Finger—of course her house is massive, with a long, white driveway and a Cadillac parked in front that's probably her mom's. Cars are scattered down the street, the whole neighborhood clearly in on the secret. The crowd's already gathered, and I can't help but grin, feeling that familiar rush of adrenaline that comes with showing up to one of these parties.
Pieck leads the way up to the door, and I feel like I'm walking into a movie. Everything's perfectly chaotic in its own way—the kind of house party you see in movies where everyone's loud, the floors creak underfoot, and the air smells like a mix of cheap bubblegum, perfume, alcohol, smoke, and sex. Just how I like it.
We step into the foyer, and my senses are instantly assaulted. The thump of bass vibrates through the walls, the sound spilling into the hallway like it's alive. People are scattered all over the place, leaning against the walls, cups in hand, laughing too loudly. A few couples are making out in the corners, not caring that they're in plain view. Someone stumbles into me, and I barely register it, eyes already scanning the scene.
Pieck doesn't even flinch as she leads me through the house. She's done this a thousand times. As she pushes open the living room door, I get my first real look at the chaos—red cups everywhere, people dancing in the middle of the room, and a huge group huddled in the corner playing some kind of drinking game.
"Ready to dive in?" Pieck smirks, looking over her shoulder at me.
I just grin and nod, taking in a deep breath. I've been to plenty of these, but this one feels different.
I spot a few familiar faces, but my eyes are immediately drawn to the guy standing by the counter with a bottle of something dark in his hand, chatting with a couple of girls. Eren. It's a fleeting thought, but it's enough to make my heart skip.
I quickly shove the thought aside, focusing on the drink in my hand. I'm here to have fun, not to overthink.
Pieck pulls me toward the crowd. "Come on, let's get you a drink and get you in the mix!"
As we make our way deeper into the party, I feel the heat of the room, the buzz of energy in the air. Everything feels alive, and for a moment, I let myself get caught up in it—the music, the laughter, the flashing lights. It's easy to forget the world outside, easy to pretend like I don't have a million things on my mind. Like Eren, for example.
I push those thoughts further down. I'm not here for that. Tonight is about having fun. Tonight is about being free.
Pieck leads me to the drink table, where a mix of alcohol and sugary concoctions await. I grab a cup and fill it with something pink and sweet.
"Drink up!" Pieck says with a wink. "I'm ready to get this party started!"
I take a sip, feeling the burn of alcohol mixed with the sweetness, and it hits me just right. A few more sips and I'm starting to feel the buzz, the room around me turning into a haze of lights and laughter.
"Let's go dance!" Pieck shouts over the music, pulling me toward the center of the room.
I laugh, feeling the weight of the night finally lift. I'm surrounded by bodies, people moving and swaying to the beat.
