Zack opens his eyes and stretches.
Zack: *Yawns* God, I got the worst night's sleep ever... "Ever since yesterday, I've had a bad feeling in my stomach... Ashley... Don't leave me behind..."
KNOCK!!!

Zack: Ashley!
Zack swiftly opens his door and sees the squirrel.
Zack: Ugh...
???: Listen...! The girl...
Zack: Ashley...?
???: She's... Dead!!!
Zack's eyes widened, and his heart felt as if it had shattered. The only one who was like him and was the only normal human. The first one he loved was gone.
Zack: Move...
Zack steps over the squirrel and stumbles toward Ashley's apartment.
Zack: "She's okay... She'll be asleep on her couch or something... She wouldn't leave... Not like this...!"
He thought as he shakily opened her door. He walks inside of Ashley's apartment.
...
Zack: It's... Quiet... And smells horrible...
Zack inspects all the rooms but finds nothing.
Zack: So far, so good... Just the bathroom is left.
He shakily opens the bathroom door.
...
He sees Ashley's lifeless corpse.
...
???: H-hey...
Zack: A-Ash-Ashley...?
Tears start streaming down Zack's face.
Zack: I... I should've done more... I'm sorry! Ashley! Please... Forgive me... Please... Come back...!
Suddenly, Zack gets a pain in his chest and falls to the floor.
Start part B
A few hours later...
SQUELCH!!!
Zack opens his eyes and sees that his nerves have expanded across the floor.
Zack: What's... Happening...? Ashley...? *Gasp*
"She lost something very important to her… And losing that “thing” made her lose her mind…"
Zack: Is this what Akiko meant...?! I can't move!!!
Suddenly, a rat runs over his nerves.
GRAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
SLICE!!!
Zack's body immediately builds itself, allowing Zack the ability to move and kill the rat by cutting it open.
...
Zack looks down at his hands.
Zack: It's just pure nerves...! What happened to me?! G-Gah!!!
Zack's heart bursts through his chest.
Zack: What is this...? It's like... Anesthesia... I don't feel it... Not a single thing... Even though it's gone... My heart seems to be beating... Extremely fast!!! Is this what that mother felt...? How exhilarating!!!!! I feel as if I can do anything I've ever wanted to do! It's amazing! My head is pounding, yet it feels like my mind is empty...!!! I feel great!!! I never want to let this feeling go! The feeling of loss.... Is far too great to forget! It feels... Like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders...!!!
