Companion Song: Mount Everest by Labrinth

Mr. Mysterious wasn't in class the rest of the week. I couldn't help but to be a little disappointed. Maybe he should have studied the syllabus because then he'd realize attendance is 20% of the final grade.

Maybe it is for the best because my GPA can't drop lower than a 3.0 or else I will lose my scholarship.

By Friday, Cassie has developed like five new crushes and one new body. I have yet to ask her what her total body count is because I am genuinely scared of her answer.

"So you didn't go out on the big first Thursday of the year, so I'm forcing you to come out with us tonight." Cass says gleaming

"Oh noooo, please God no." I say begging her to let me stay in again

"Girl, I will not let you rot in here all semester. We have to start off the year with a bang. Plus it's just a kickback with some people I met in my classes."

"Ok, fine. Only if I can get back in time to finish an episode of Gilmore Girls before I pass out."

"Deal."

It should be a chill night, so I throw on jeans, a crop top, and some old converse. I leave my hair down and fix up my makeup from the long day of classes in the heat.

"Ok, ready?" says Cass

"Yep" I say making a face, followed by a smile.

"Come on, we're gonna have fun. These people are cool."

When we get to the apartment, we ride up a tiny elevator with barely enough space for the two of us.

"Hey Cass!" a boy greets us at the door.

"This is my roomie Rose" Cass introduces me to everyone sitting in the living room

There is music in the background and everyone passes a big clear bong around the group. I am really not a smoker, especially with people I've never met. In fact, I've only smoked once at home and I got super paranoid.

It comes to my turn and I pass it to the next person, careful not to draw any attention to myself.

The night goes on and I am the only one still sober. Everyone is fun, but I can't help but wish I was freshly showered, under the covers, watching Rory Gilmore and Jess navigate Stars Hollow.

I go up to Cass, give her a kiss on the cheek and say goodbye and thank you to the rest of the group. I head toward the elevator and press the down button, there's absolutely no way I'm going down the fifteen flights of stairs.

*ding*

The doors open and standing inside is Mr. Mysterious. He's taking up half of the space in the elevator just by himself.

"Oh I- I can take the next one. It's no problem. Or I'll just go down the stairs." I feel my cheeks getting hot

"Scared?" he utters almost daring me to come inside while holding the elevator door open

I can clearly see the tattoo on his hand now. It's a spider that spans the entire top of his hand with three letters in cursive inside of it.

DON

I slip into the elevator, our chests almost touching because of the lack of space. I'm wishing I would have taken the stairs, but at the same time I'm hoping that this elevator ride never ends.

"Heading home so soon?" He says in an accent that must be either Spanish or Italian.

"Oh, yeah. I just got tired." I mumble as I try not to fall into his deep brown eyes, like I did at Amore last weekend.

"You know," he leans in deeply and our chests are touching now

"If you want to fuck me you could just ask" a smirk creeps across his face

"W- What, no. I just- I don't even know your name, how could I want to have sex with you?" I say trying to keep my composure. My body buzzes from the soles of my feet to my scalp.

"I didn't say sex, I said fuck. You don't need names for that."

I feel his knuckles brushing against the side of my hip bones. As if I was saved by the bell, I hear the elevator bell ding to announce we have reached the first floor.

I seem to be frozen, almost wanting his touch to migrate across the entire surface area of my body. My eyes close as I feel his lip against my earlobe.

"Well if ever do need a good fuck, you know who to call." he says as he tilts his head

I keep my eyes closed and prepare to lean into his kiss. His bottom lip grazes mine ever so slightly, as my back arches. Without warning, he pulls away smiling and slips out of the elevator.

"See you Monday, freshman." I hear as he walks with his back toward me out of the lobby.

I stand paralyzed in the elevator with so many emotions that I almost let the doors close. Part of me is hungry for more while the other part is scared of his dominating presence. Whatever these feelings are, I've never felt them before.
