Zairai discovered that Arfa-Sys wasn't just a prize-she was a prototype AI tied to the Nexus Incident. Her evolving code contained fragments of the system that might unlock the way out of GGO.
Their journey led them to the Nexus Core, a heavily guarded fortress. LLENN and Fukaziroh teamed up with Zairai, partly out of curiosity and partly to stop Pitohui, whose bloodlust threatened everyone. Even Akatana made a dramatic return, vowing to "protect his rival" (much to Zairai's annoyance).
In the final battle, Arfa-Sys sacrificed herself to overwrite the corrupted system, triggering the beginning of the end for GGO's digital prison.
The players woke up in the real world, free at last. Zairai, however, wasn't content to leave Arfa-Sys behind. Holding her memory core, he vowed to bring her back.
"Looks like it's just you and me again," he said.
From the corner, Akatana dramatically declared, "And me, your eternal rival!"
Zairai groaned. "This is gonna be a long journey."
