Soon, Adam and Burt were the only ones left.
"Burt, if there must be a last two, I'm glad it's us" said Adam.
"Thanks, Adam, that means a lot" said Burt.
"Because I could use some assistance, old chum" said Adam.
Burt could no longer hide his frustration that Adam was only treating him like a sidekick.
"Holy typecasting, Adam!" he snapped. "I'm more than just a sidekick!"
"Are you saying that because you feel you deserve more screen time?" said Adam.
"No! I mean being at Splash Mountain has changed me" said Burt. "As I tried to tell you, I'm old enough to fight my own battles."
Adam softened. "Well... come to think of it, you did stand up to that crook Les Camembert. That took courage."
"Yeah. Especially since his assistant has a laser" said Burt.
Adam smiled. "Alright, Burt. From now on, you're in charge. What do you think we should do?"
Burt took a second to think. "I know! You and I are gonna do what we do best. But we'll have to add something a little loco to it."
"I don't know where you're going with this, but I like it" said Adam. "But remember. The mountain is depending on us."
"I know. But we're only humans. We only have so much to give" said Burt.
"True. That's why we're giving it together" said Adam.
He and Burt shook on it before proceeding to the battle.
That is, Adam showed up alone.
"Well, I s'pose the battle is even now, Mr West" said Les.
"Where's your dweeby robin boy with the big mouth?" said Dr Fusion.
"He ran away" said Adam.
"I'm not surprise. Just like any coward from Dash Frown-ton" said Les.
"It's Splash Mountain! The signs on the entrance" said Patty.
"Take this, you devil!" Adam shouted.
He shot an arrow and it hit Dr Fusion.
But before he could shoot Les, he picked up the laser and shot Adam.
"We won and the mountain is ours!" he cheered.
But then, another arrow hit his back!
He turned around and Burt was standing right behind him.
"Not so fast. You forgot about me. The dweeb with the big mouth!" Burt shouted.
Every critter on the mountain broke out applauding.
"Profound, Burt! You fought heroically" said Adam.
Patty hugged her best friend. "You're our hero!"
Les looked at the doctor. "I can't even imagine a scenario that's worked out well for us."
"Nope" Dr Fusion agreed.
"Brer Burt! Brer Burt! Brer Burt!" the critters chanted.
