The group cautiously approached the source of the humming, the dense foliage parting to reveal an overgrown clearing. The sound grew louder, vibrating through their chests like an unsteady heartbeat.
In the center of the clearing lay the object—a metallic sphere, partially embedded in the ground and covered in moss. It glimmered faintly, despite the lack of sunlight piercing through the canopy above.
"What the hell is that?" Yoongi muttered, his eyes narrowing.
"I don't know," V replied, his voice low, "but it doesn't look natural."
Lisa knelt down first, brushing aside the moss. "It's metal. Smooth. No markings or seams."
Iris crossed her arms, frowning as she stood beside JK. "It's not just metal—it's humming. Like it's alive."
Jungkook stepped closer, motioning for everyone to stay back. "Careful. We don't know what it could do. It might be dangerous."
"Dangerous, yes," He-ra remarked, tilting her head, "but fascinating." She crouched next to Lisa, inspecting the sphere. "It looks... advanced. Way beyond what any old expedition could've left behind."
Hannah lingered near the back, her fingers nervously fiddling with the zipper of her jacket. "What if it's not from an expedition? What if it's—"
"Don't say aliens," Yoongi interrupted.
"I wasn't going to say aliens!" Hannah huffed. "I was going to say... something else entirely."
"Like what?" Allison asked, stepping closer to the sphere herself. Her green eyes flicked to Lisa. "What do you think?"
Lisa ran her fingers over the smooth surface, frowning. "It's cold, but it's humming. That shouldn't be possible."
"Could it be a power source?" Jennie offered, crouching down.
Rose nodded thoughtfully. "Or a beacon. Maybe someone—or something—is using it to send a signal."
Nico stayed a few steps behind, his dark eyes focused on the surrounding forest rather than the object. "If it's a signal, it might attract more than just us."
"Exactly why we need to move quickly," Jungkook said, glancing between the sphere and the group. "Let's figure out what this thing is before anything—or anyone—comes looking for it."
V joined Lisa and He-ra at the object, his hand hesitating before brushing the sphere. The moment he touched it, the humming stopped.
The group froze.
"Uh... what did you do?" Yoongi asked, his voice sharp.
V stared at his hand, his brows furrowed. "I just touched it. I didn't mean to—"
Before he could finish, the sphere began to glow faintly, emitting a soft pulse of light that spread outward like ripples in a pond.
"Is it... responding to us?" Iris whispered, her voice tinged with awe and fear.
