"So.... Iso, would you like to go get boba?" You asked him with a sincere tone, trying to do it to over energetically but at the same time trying to not seem like you don't want to. You felt like you were overthinking this interaction, but even so, you felt a pit in your stomach when he looked up at you with the same indifferent expression before he spoke. "No, thank you." He simply said, barely lifting his eyes up from his phone to answer you.
You were trying to shoot your shot at getting him to hang out with you for once, and that opportunity came because Sage was out on a mission for a bit. You figured that since she was going to be gone a few days maybe he'd want someone else to go fetch boba with- but it seemed that you were wrong.
You stood there for a moment, still staring at him as the only thing that went through your head at that exact moment was 'Omega earth Iso would have said yes'. And it pained you that that was your first thought at this moment- no matter how much you were trying to push it away, it was nagging you at the back of your mind. "No problem... I guess I'll go alone then." You said a bit more quieter, turning on your heels to head out of the common room.
You were at war with your thoughts more and more these days, even if you tried to not let it show to anyone. You didn't want anyone starting to ask you why you were so distracted or why you looked so stressed and tired- the place is your mind was going was places even you didn't want to talk about for the sake of not getting in trouble, big trouble. You took another big deep breath to try to calm your nerves, walking out of the common room, your small backpack slung over one shoulder.
You quietly made your way down the hallway of the headquarters, biting the inside of your cheek to keep yourself distracted and keep your mind off of whatever was going on in your head. You made your way down some stairs before finally exiting through the main entrance, the warm sun of the day hitting your skin. It was a nice day, not too hot but rather pleasant.
You figured you were going to walk to the Boba shop, since it was so nice it would be a nice opportunity to get some extra exercise done outside. You let out another soft sigh, starting to walk towards the gate that gave access to Headquarters, putting your backpack on properly instead of having it hanging off one shoulder only. You pulled out your key card, swiping it so that the gate would open and allow you to exit. With a metallic clicking noise, the gate opened and you walked out, heading on the sidewalk of the main Street.
But the sound of the gate opening again caught your attention, looking over your shoulder to see who was following behind you, wondering who else decided to head out on such a nice day. Much to your surprise, Iso was actually walking up to you, hands in his pockets with an indifferent look on his face. You were surprised, giving him a confused look. You thought he said no for boba- so why was he heading out?
"Iso? Whatcha doing?" You asked him curiously as he walked up towards you, then continued walking past you. You matched his step since he seemed to be going the same direction you were anyways. "Getting boba. You gave me a craving when you mentioned it." He replied a bit flatly, not looking your way when he spoke. He was facing the direction he was walking, looking all too casual.
"Oh- well guess we're getting boba together Afterall-" you said with a small chuckle, trying to be casual about it all even though you were happy about the outcome. Of course, the way he brought it up that he was just going to get it because you gave him craving and not because he wanted to come with you went well above your head- you were just happy that you two could finally hang out outside of missions- and that it was one of the rare times he gave you attention outside of missions.
