Chapter 27: Love Hurts

After winning his third heart piece, Yuma puts the piece in an empty slot and jumps around overjoyed.

Yuma: Yes! Three pieces down and only seven more to go.

Kai: Wish I could be as cheerful as you. I haven't even won one yet.

Tori: I don't know what to say, Kai. You are pretty famous so maybe people are avoiding you cause they know they might lose.

Kai: Hmm. If that's the case, then I need to either find someone who doesn't know me or find a duelists who already has a bunch of pieces.

Yuma: Great. While you're doing that, I'll be winning my next heart piece.

Astral: Not to interrupt, but...Heart pieces are not the only thing we are here to win if you recall. As you said, our main goal entering the Duel Carnival is to retrieve Numbers cards.

Yuma: When did I say that? I never said that! I want heart pieces! I love heart pieces! I need heart pieces! I can't live without heart pieces!

Astral looks up as though he could sense someone watching them. Curious, Kai looks up and spots something. 

Anna: Target acquired! Someone aimed at Yuma from afar. Goodbye Yuma!

The person fired a blast from some kind of bazooka. They all look up and see it coming at them.

Kai: Look out! Kai tackles Yuma and Tori to the ground and avoid getting hurt.

Anna: Just missed him.

Yuma: This augmented reality is getting a little too real if you ask me!

Tori: Augmented reality? This is real, Yuma!

Anna: One more time. She fired three more times. Kai looks up and sees them coming at them.

Kai: Guys, run!

Yuma: This way! Come on! The three of them run away as fast as they could.

Anna: Stay still, would ya?

Yuma: Astral, whaddya see, whaddya see?

Astral: From what I can tell, you are under attack.

Yuma: No joke, genius.

Cologne: I think he meant if you could see who was firing.

Yuma: Quick guys, this way!

Tori: Right!

Kai: 'I really hope whoever is doing this isn't who I think it is.' They eventually ran out of sight from the assailant.

Anna: You can run...But you can't hide, not from my hovercraft. Her bazooka doubled as a hovercraft as she got on it. And we have liftoff!

However, she didn't seem very good at controlling as she fell off the building she was on almost hitting the ground, but thankfully there was a lake that cushioned the fall. The hovercraft rode on the water and Anna was trying her best to control it and she seemed to be getting better. That was until she flew straight into a street light. Frustrated, she quickly took control of the hovercraft and was now chasing Yuma, Kai and Tori.

Anna: There is no escape!

Tori: She's right behind us, Yuma. What are we gonna do?

Astral: I suggest running faster.

Kai: Gee, ya think? She was beginning to close in on them.

Anna: And now I... Got ya! She fired a shot, but the recoil sent her back a bit.

Yuma: Look out! Yuma grabs Tori's hand making her blush.

Kai: Just keep running! And whatever you do, don't look back.
