Chapter Six
Sophie
My heart raced as I ran frantically towards the entrance of the garden.
My knees went weak as my feet grew wobble, but I knew I couldn't stop running. I had to run. I had to keep running if I wanted to survive and avoid being prosecuted by this ruthless man.
If only I had a normal wolf scenting ability, then I wouldn't have been in this mess in the first place. My wolf was an omega and had difficulty detecting people's scent.
Her ability to detect scents was just the same as a human, and that was why I couldn't detect his scent until it was too late.
I thought kissing him was going to serve as an apology for the last ball, and he would let me go without being prosecuted. But instead, he pushed me away harshly, showing how eager he was to prosecute me for going against the laws.
After he pushed me and my back collided against the hard floor, I knew I had to act fast, and that was why I made sure my raven black hair covered my face so he wouldn't have a perfect view of me.
At that moment, I could feel the rage emanating from him as he starred at me. I knew he was going to get me prosecuted for playing with fire, and I was most likely to get burned, because who ever played with fire always got burned, but I refused to be burned; I was going to fight for my life till the very end.
"Stop, stop right now." He growled loudly in his alpha voice, but that only seemed to be the pull I needed to run faster as I ran out of the pathway and into the open building.
Normally, I would have escaped by now, because I'm one of the fastest runners in my pack, but the fact that there's no reasonable gap between us proved how fast of a runner he was.
'Aurora, please drive into the building now; it's an emergency.' I called out through the mindlink as my legs began to give in to exhaustion.
"Give up already, and just accept your fate." He yelled as I shook my head. No, I couldn't give up now, not when I was this close to teaming with the stronger Alpha, who was going to help me defeat Darren and avenge my parents deaths.
My feet finally gave in to exhaustion, and as I fell weakly to my knees, my breath hitched in my throat.
The heavy footsteps and ragged breathing of Reece echoed loudly behind me; just a few more inches, and it was going to be over for me. I knew the reasonable thing to do was probably to run and keep running.
But I was incredibly weak. Then, just when I was about to give in to my cruel fate and letting the ugly clutches of death destroy me, Aurora's loud scream echoed loudly from a distance.
"Sophie!" she yelled, as I instantly sprung to my feet and ran towards the open car door.
"Stop. Stop right now." He growled once more. In his alpha tone, all the wolves present craned their necks in submission, but not me. I mean, alpha tones really do not work on people who are fighting for their lives.
He reached the car, and just at the exact moment I slammed the doorshot and the car speed off.
"What the hell was that, Sophie?" Aurora exclaimed, and as I let out the breath, I didn't even realize I was holding.
"Shit! I messed up." I gasped, feeling tears in my eyes.
"Is okay, Sophie? Just talk to me. What exactly happened?".
"I was desperate; I needed a mate, and I followed the beta of the blood moon pack to seduce him, but only that it wasn't the beta, but the Alpha I had seduced."
She cuts me off. "And now he was chasing you, so he could prosecute you as was the law.".
I nodded as my tears rolled down, salty streams down my face.
"Fuck Sophie. Lucas just mindlinked me the pack borders are locked." Aurora cried out as I inhaled a sharp breath.
"What are you going to do now?" She mumbled, her hands growing clammy.
I blinked back the tears that threatened to fall. I was really doomed.
Oh wait, I wasn't. Reece knew only my scent but not my face. I could hide in one of the abandoned houses in the pack while I awaited the mating ceremony of Darren's daughter.
Just seven more days, and then I would make the quick swap, get mated to the stronger Alpha, and beg him to help me avenge my parents deaths.
It was killing two birds with one stone. I could finally get mated, and not only that, but avenge my parents deaths.
My heart swelled in joy. Just seven more days, and everything will finally be perfect.
