Chapter Seven
Reece
After the mating ball, I was determined to find Sophie by all means possible; even if it involved violence, I really did not care; I just wanted to find her and ask her to undo whatever spell she cast on me because I have never paid this much attention to any female, but then again, Sophie was different. She was bold, no shameless even to have approached and seduced me.
I should have been used to it; females constantly throw themselves at me, but not with this particular one. I loved her every touch, feel, smell, voice, and kiss; she just had some kind of invisible charm that kept magnetizing me to her.
The Obsidian pack borders had been closed for exactly one week; I had even lied to Darren that the reason I wanted to stay in his pack for that one week was to get familiar with it since we were building a family relationship together.
With the help of Ryker, I had secretly gone house by house checking because I didn't trust my guards enough. Patrol had been put in place, yet no sign of her. It was utterly frustrating.
My eyes wandered back to the picture of Sophie starring back at me. Logged into the classification as a low-ranking female wolf. She had no achievements within or outside her pack. She was of the Blue Moon Pack and lived on the second floor of the pack house. She had three younger sisters who are all happily mated with pups.
My eyes swept past her date of birth. Currently thirty and is unmated. A total of four years difference between us. Immediately I knew she was seeking me as a potential mate, but then again, why does she keep running away without any trace?
Unable to think any further and angry, I slam the laptop closed.
Ryker's gaze flicked from the mirror as he was adjusting his suit collar and onto me. And lest I forget, today was my marriage ceremony to Evelyn, Darren's daughter, and believe me, I wasn't anticipating it one bit.
"Are the statements showing criminal records or having children out of wedlock?". He asked as I sighed.
"It's been one week of endless searching, and I still can't find her. I might as well forget about her, but then again, I just can't get her out of my head." I groaned, irritation clear in my voice.
"Is okay, bro? I think everything is for the best. Besides, today is your wedding; who knows you and Darren's daughter might end up falling in love?".
I cringed. I could never fall in love with Darren's daughter; I had already given my heart out to Sophie. Yes, Sophie; that was what her friend called her that day. I just wish I had realized this earlier on, and I wouldn't have let her go, but maybe everything is all for the best because this couldn't actually be love, right?
Apart from the fact that she is a good kisser and her name is Sophie, I knew nothing else about her. So yes, this couldn't be love. It was only a pathetic obsession because I haven't felt a woman's body against mine in a while, but all that was going to change after I got mated today.
"Where are you, Reece?" All the guests are already here, likewise the bride." Darren growled through our mindlink, and I inhaled a sharp breath as I strode out of my room and onto the ground floor, where the wedding was taking place.
I arrived at the ground floor in no time, and as I ambled through the aisle and onto the altar, where the priest stood, alongside Darren daughter, who was covered in a veil, I couldn't help but wonder if marrying Darren daughter was actually the right thing to do.
The pack elders of the Obsidian Pack performed some rituals to seal our mate bond. After the mating and wedding ceremony was completed. I was still going to fix another date for Evelyn to be formally accepted as the Luna by my pack, and some rituals were going to be made. She was also going to be expected to wear the traditional mating dress of the previous Luna's. So all these other rituals made by the Obsidian pack elders were just preparation for that day.
"You may now unveil and kiss your bride to seal the rituals." One of the eldest growled, and slowly I pulled Evelyn towards me, unveiled her face, and slammed my lips against hers.
The moment our lips touched, everything around me froze, and Kyla began howling loudly inside my head. Kyla had refused to speak to me after he found out I was still going on with my wedding to Evelyn; he felt I was betraying Sophie.
But that wasn't what surprised me the most; it was the fire that ignited in me and how I instantly became hard.
Only one woman had such an effect on me, but then again, this wasn't Sophie, but Evelyn, Darren's daughter.
