There she was again. That girl.

I couldn't see her eyes, and her hair had no color. Nothing in this world did--for it was just a dream. My dream.

She had been haunting my thoughts for years and...for what purpose?

"Natsu," The girl whispered, reaching out. "Come play with me."

I didn't say anything, and she frowned. "C'mon Natsuuu. Don'tcha wanna play?" Her words held an innocent, youthful tone that reminded me of someone...but who?

It wouldn't matter, I would forget about this dream when I awoke anyways.

She looked up but her eyes were still shadowed by colorless bangs, revealing half a colorless face, in a colorless dream. "Why don't you ever play with me anymore?"

It was the same thing every time. Right after this question, I'd wake up, like I always did, in my bed with no memory of what had happened. It was a sad, endless cycle.

So I waited. One, two minutes of silence went by, and still I stood, facing this girl whose eyes had always been covered.

"Say something."

This time her voice was deeper, more mature. It startled me.

Right back into reality.

"Say something!" I pleaded. "C'mon, Natsu, wake up...please..."

Natsu's eyes suddenly shot open, much to my surprise. "Omigosh, Natsu you're okay."

"Luce?" He turned to face me with a confused gaze. "What are you doing...in my bed?"

"Uh, um, well..." I stammered, face heating up. "We, uh, slept together. We didn't do any funny business. Don't you remember? But, yah you were kinda having a fit in your sleep so I was trying to wake you up. It's still pretty early in the morning; 3:00 or so but--"

"A...a fit?" He repeated, brow furrowed.

"You were crying. In your sleep." My voice was dark, solemn, and the atmosphere grew tense.

"Oh..." He muttered, looking lost.

I sat on his bedside beside him, hoping to comfort Natsu. "What were you dreaming about?"

His face paled, and his words sounded hollow, void of life as he replied, "I...I don't really know. All I do know is that...I was happy."

"Happy," I echoed to no one in particular. "You didn't exactly look the part--crying and all. If anything, you look as if you wet the bed."

He cocked an eyebrow. "Wow, Luce. Right in the pride. Right in the pride."

Rolling my eyes, I gathered pillows in my arms. "Well, gather your so-called pride and help me with the laundry."

"Never!" He shrieked, grabbing a pillow and tossing it square at me. To his surprise, I caught it with ease--and chucked it right back at him, with even more force.

Suddenly, memories came rushing back when I slapped Natsu with a pillow. When I saw him for the first time, after all those years, in this very apartment, when Lisanna was so bubbly and full of life and when I was proud to call her my Neesan.

So much had happened since I walked through that door for the first time, and the fact that it wasn't over both scared me and filled me with a childlike excitement all the same.

"Natsu...?" I asked, heavily panting from an intense pillow fight, head resting on his shoulder.

"Eh?"

"Let's, uh...do the laundry later."

He smiled as he exclaimed,

"Definitely!"

"So, Father." I greeted with an iced glaze, looking down at him from where I stood, in his hospital bed, the bags looming under his eyes were dark and gave him a worn out appearance.

Pathetic.

"Lisanna...you're here. I see." He heaved a tired sigh and turned away, his face out of sight. "Why? Why are you here--now, of all times, hmm?"

"Oh, can't a daughter visit her only living parent as he lies in a Hospital gown, soon to leave this world and burn? I might as well say goodbye," I scoffed, feigning worry.

"Indeed, there is nothing wrong with that." He answered, going along with my act. "But it is you of all people. I don't have time for sarcasm."

"I believe that's why you're hooked up to over a dozen machines, Father, due to your lack of...time."

"Lisanna, please," He turned to give me a sharp, stern glare.

"Fine. I came to tell you that soon...my little act will be over. It took this long and his damn family never even paid--even after having 'his' child."

"You're--You're breaking it off with him?" Father forced the question into a harsh whisper. "Foolish, foolish child...!"

"If I were you, Father, I'd be more respective when you address me. You can't boss me around any more." I spat out the words as if they tasted foul on my tongue.

His eyes widened. "What are you implying, dear daughter?"

"I think you know exactly what." I threw my head back in a wild laughter. "And don't worry, Father, no one will ever have to learn about...that. Your secret is safe with me."

"Lisanna, please, don't do thi--"

And then he flatlined.
