Once I said my name, Audrey became silent. I saw that there was a grave expression on her face. "Your Destiny Stryker?!" She hissed at me. I didn't know what the big deal was, so I just put it simply, "Ya, why you got a problem?" She put her face closer to mine, and whispered in my ear, "Ya, mainly because of your past." I was disgusted with the way she put it. "How the heck do you know about my past?" I hissed. There was terror in her eyes, and there was pure anger in mine. "You're the one that got taken from your home aren't you?" I looked at her with rage in my eyes, and then it all went away, and then I felt empty all throughout my body. "No, I wasn't. It was my little brother who got kidnapped. But how do you know about me?"
I looked at her expecting her to have a clue or something, but all she said was, "My father was the governor at the time, and I remembered your name all these years." It felt like I was hit by a bullet strait through the heart, or what's left of it anyway. "Oh, ok then," I sighed. I thought for a moment she knew something about what happened on that day. I quickly shook my head, smiled, and said, "Hey, forget about it, ok. It's fine. That happened a while ago, and the reason I'm here is just to find the woman who did this, and rip out here guts through her throat. Ok, so don't worry. But let's talk about something else." Audrey nodded, and asked, "So, what do you like to do for fun?"
I looked at her smiled, and said, "Well, I do like to train, especially when I'm going against a strong opponent, I love the feel of the swords clashing, and the sound of it." She shook her head, and said again, "No, nothing like training, as I for fun fun." She laughed. I thought for a moment, and said almost as a whisper, "Well, I like singing a lot because of my mother. And I love to listen to music." I didn't want anyone hearing. She smiled a little bit, and brought a MP3 player and headphones. "Here, this is a present so that you can listen to music all the time."
I looked at it, and took it from her hand. "But, this must've been expensive, and there must already be music on it." She laughed a little, " Are you serious, I forgot I had it until like five minutes ago. Nothing is even on it, and it was a birthday present." I smiled a little, and hugged her. I quickly backed up and started blushing, "I'm sorry! I didn't mean too!" Aubrey smiled, and punched my shoulder. "That's alright, honey, but let's start downloading music, ok." I nodded my head and finally found music I liked, and downloaded about fifty songs. It was about 11:50 when we finished, and Aubrey was barely holding in.
She kept jerking her head forward in order to stay awake. At the sight of this, I laughed a little. I gave her one of those things you wrapped around your neck, so you could go to sleep in and be comfortable. She looked at me, and smiled a faint smile. Once she put it on, she payed her head on my shoulder and instantly fell asleep. I didn't know what to do, because no one had ever done that to me in over 10 years since the accident. But she looked so peaceful, and I just let her rest there. I rested my head on top of hers, because I really didn't know what else to do, and fell asleep. Once I woke up, I saw that only a couple people were up. I decided to put my new music on, and just fall asleep again. I grabbed my headphones and the MP3 player, and put it on real loud.
I really love music now. Ever since I could remember, Mother would sing to me, and I grew up listening to that. I couldn't go to sleep though, I had a strange feeling that someone was watching me. I carefully looked around the plane because I didn't want to wake Aubrey up. But no one was looking in out direction at all. I shrugged my shoulders, and went back to listening to music. Not even two seconds later, there was a voice on the intercom, "Wimps, there has been a little problem with one of the engines. I want each and everyone of you to be calm, and get a parachute on this instant. Those of you who are awake, wake up the others and tell them. Be prepared to jump out of the plane on my call." Once there was no more of that guy's voice, I instantly woke up Audrey.
She woke up with a little stir, and still had sleepy eyes, "What's going on, Des?" I was about to tell her, but instead I said, "Did you just call me Des? She nodded and as if to say 'I'm going back to sleep, she put her head back down on my shoulder. I shook her again, and she stirred up. "What do you want?" She finally woke up fully, and stretched. Once I explained to her what the guy on the intercom said, and I waited for her answer. But instead of asking what to do, she just nodded. After everyone on the jet woke up, we all got our parachutes, and any of our belongings we brought onto the jet. I tied both my sword and dagger to my belt with a triple knot, and locked them in their cases.
The one thing I didn't know what to do with was that MP3 player. So I just kept it on, with the headphones wrapped around my ears, and the player in my bra. After we did all that, we them heard something on the intercom. "Ok, wimps, you are able to jump out of the plane when you put on your googles, and you only have thirty seconds before the plane explodes. Good luck, wimps." And then it became staticky. Everyone started freaking out, even me. But I trained myself not to panic in these kinds of situations. I knew exactly what to do in this situation, mainly because I had first hand experience in the category of fire. "Hey, all of you listen to me, we don't have that much time so hurry up and get your googles on and be prepared to jump!" I yelled. Once we all had our goggles on, we only had about ten seconds, it was already really hot in there. I quickly pressed he button to open the hatch, and I yelled for every one to jump. We all jumped, except for this guy.
I quickly whispered into his ear, "I'm sorry!" I grabbed his hand, and forced him to jump with me. Not a second too soon after we jumped, the jet went up in flames. Fire. Never thought I would see it burn so brightly again. I could hear kids screaming in the distant, and I came back to reality. It was a couple of the girls and guys. But the kid I helped out was frozen, he wasn't moving or anything. "Hey!" I yelled, "come on, we need to get ready to pull our parachutes!" But he still didn't move, all he did was look into my eyes. It made my heart stop. Those eyes. They were the exact same look as Little Wonder's while the woman was taking him away.
A shot of energy went through me, and I was afraid it would shoot out of my fingers and burn the tips. I did my best to reach him, and grab a hold of him. But I was a little arm length short. "Hey kid, you've got to get over your fear and grab onto my hand! I know it's scary, but I promise you that if you grab onto my hand, I will not let a single thing harm you! That's a promise!" That seemed to click something in him, and he reached out and took my hand. I yanked him towards me, and wrapped my arm around him. He was smaller and younger than me, that's for sure. He wrapped both of his arms around me, and squeezed me tightly. It felt like I was holding Little Wonder again, finally. I then yelled at her m to hold on, and I pulled the cord on my parachute and felt it release it, and then we came to an abrupt stop in the middle of the air as we safely floated down to the ground.
The entire way down, the boy never let go of me, and I never let go of him. For some reason, it just felt right. Once we landed, he was still holding onto me. I let him do it for a couple more minutes until everyone was down. While we were waiting, I was rubbing his back. Then everyone came down, and I carefully pulled him off of me, and let him sit on the ground. What's crazy, is that the entire time I spent with him, I hadn't even seen his face, or even heard his name. I made a head count, just to make sure that every one was there. I promised myself that I wouldn't leave them. Once everyone was ok, we all heard clapping behind us. When we looked at who it was, I couldn't believe my eyes.
