BEEP, BEEP. Sounds that can scare someone or sounds that can make someone's day. Neither of those seemed to even begin to describe how I felt. Anger? Sadness? Disappointment? Revenge? I don't know, but what I did know was that in fifteen minutes, my life changed for the worst. I lost my parents, my normality, and my one best friend: Little Wonder. I hated myself for not being able to do anything. I've never known real pain or heartache.

I guess it feels like someone sticking their hand through your throat, and just grabbing your heart and slowly and painfully pulling it out of you, until you just feel this emptiness. That's how I feel right now, but it was somehow it seemed worse. I can't explain it, but imagine someone lying to you for your entire life, and then loosing your favorite pet, and all of your best friends, and you've made a new enemy that lives... Well let's just say that's how i feel. I'm lying there, on my back, with words and tubes on and around my body, and people are doing their best to keep me alive. But the crazy part is out of all this, I'm thinking of ways to grow up as a normal kid, and how it would be if none of this happened.

When I am finally conscious enough to fully open my eyes, I don't really care who is in the room. No one can console me, no one. I let out a small laugh when I thought that. I must've looked like a crazy person right there. You're family was killed, you stabbed a person, and you watched a person take away your only friend in the world, yet your laughing. As I was thinking that, there was movement in the corner of the room. The figure was coming closer to my bed, silently. Most people would think this person was a murderer, but all I thought was that he was really tall. "Well, I see that you're finally awake, Miss Stryker." I looked up at the man who was talking and saw who it was. "Kurisiro?" The old Asian man smiled, which depend the lines on his face. Tiato Kurisiro was Father's boss.

He was the main man of the entire business. He was a middle aged man with deep smile lines. I would say he was about 54 years old. He wasn't that tall, Father was about twice his size.  So like 4'8".  The man already had greying hairs, with really big ears.  If I hadn't already met the man, I would've thought he was a guru, because he looked like that.  He sat down on the foot of the hospital bed, and rested his hand on my foot.  "You poor girl.  It must be really hard for you."  While he was saying that, he was slowly stroking it.  I wasn't in the mood for someone to be kind to me, all I wanted to to was look for Little Wonder.  Mr. Kurisiro must've noticed what I wanted, and he slowly helped me up into a seating position.

He had to support me, because not all of my strength was there.  "It's alright, Little Girl, it's going to be fine from now on."  I looked at him with a weird expression, and started shaking my head.  "No, no it's not going to be fine!  My family is dead, my brother is pretty much dead, and their killer is still out there, having what she came for.  So no it's not alright.  It's the exact opposite.  I... I'm....I'm alone!"  Once I screamed the last two words I've wanted to say, I started crying, and threw myself I top of Mr. Kurisiro.  He caught me, and let me cry into him.  He was a regular guest at out old house.  Being Father's boss and all, he was also a family friend.

So what he told me next really didn't surprise me that much.  "Little Girl, you are not alone, because you'll have me from now on.  I'm going to adopt you, and make sure that your life will be as close to the one you had before if it's the last thing I'll do.  Your father was a good man, and that is the reason I'm going to look after you, to repay him for all of the good things he's done for me."  He took me off of him, and put his hands on my shoulders.  He nodded with a proud look on his face.  "You will be safe, that is a promise."  I looked at the man who was to be my new father.  I looked deeply into his eyes, and nodded.  "I accept you as my guardian."

When I was able to be dispatched from the hospital, it was already June 22. It's been three months since the 'accident.' Mr. Kurisiro took me to his house, which was a condo I top of the tallest building in the city. He led me to my room which was much bigger than my old room, and said that if I ever needed anything, I was to pull a rope hanging from the wall and someone would come and help me. I only nodded each time he told me something. He was almost done, when he said something that caught my attention. "Can you say that again, Sensei?" *that is a nick name we made him a long time ago* " I said, that you will start your training for self defense, and make sure that if someone was to come near you that isn't supposed to, you could easily beat them." I smiled a smile so big at him that I saw Sensei blush a little. "Sensei, could we start training right now?" He put his finger to his chin, and just stood there thinking for a bit. He shrugged and said, "We can, but we need to make sure you are fully recovered." I nodded at him with a humongous grin. "Ok, Sensei, I'll make sure to get better real soon, so that I can protect whoever needs my help again!"
