The day after the proposal, Kayce sat at the table for breakfast as Beth walked in."Hey there Mr. Romance, when's the wedding?" He chuckled, "Actually I'm glad you're here. I'm thinking July 4th. Could ya make that happen?" Beth looked at him confused."Like next month? What, is she pregnant?" Kayce eyed her,"Watch your mouth. She's not pregnant, it's been a long wait. If you don't wanna plan it, fine," Kayce said as he wiped his mouth and smacked his napkin down on the table. Beth quickly said "I'm sorry, I know this was always your dream. I can make it work as long as it's here. I doubt I could get a venue that late." At that moment Bella walked in, Kayce noticed and said sweetly, "Mornin' baby, glad you're here. Beth and I were talkin' about the wedding. She can plan it for the fourth as long as it's here. But obviously you make all the decisions. This is your fairytale baby, my fairytale just walks down the aisle to me." Beth and Bella smiled. Beth cut in, "Laying it on thick buddy, she already agreed. But yes Bella you have all decisions I'll give you options." Bella laughed."I'm okay with doing it here, but I'd like the ceremony in one of the outer pastures overlooking the mountain. We can use the carriages to bring people up and back." Kayce kissed her cheek, smiling ear to ear. "Alright I need a guest list. I'll work on the invites today and will have proofs by noon. I'll get express mailing so we can get a head count by the week before," Beth said putting notes into her phone. Kayce looked at Bella, "Let's take the day off. We can get the whole thing planned today." Bella smiled,"I have a meeting at 9:30 but l can come back right after." "I'll drive ya, then we'll just come right back here," Kayce replied. Beth announced, "Meet me at the bakery on Turner when you're done. We'll do cake tasting then go next door to pick flowers. Right after we can go to Main and Kayce can pick out the suits for him and his wedding party." They looked at each other smiling and nodded.
After the meeting they headed to the bakery. Since Beth wasn't there yet, they started their guest lists. "Who's in your party?" Bella asked. As he kept writing, "Tate's my best man, Lee, Jaime, Dad, Rip, and Carter. Who's yours?" Bella nodded,"Your sister is maid of honor, two of my parters Jordan and Sasha- which Ryan and Jake will love, Teeter, and I was thinking Monica." Kayce looked up, "Uh, my ex wife?" Bella smiled,"Yeah I like her, plus she's Tate's mom and good coparenting is important for Tate." Kayce was silent for a minute, then asked, "Did you ask her?" Bella looked out the window as she grabbed her bag and pulled out a box, " No, I was going to ask her tonight before you kidnapped me. I had my assistants make these boxes up, this is Beth's." Kayce looked at the box, turning it toward him as Beth walked in. She walked up to the cashier and let them know of our appointment before coming over. She looked at the box addressed to her, "What's this?" Bella smiled and shrugged as she looked to Kayce. He grinned, "Why don't ya open it?" Beth smiled, taking the box and loosening the light pink ribbon. As she opened it, her eyes got teary as she saw the writing.. Beth, will you be my maid of honor? She looked up and put her hand on Bella's arm, looking back to her box of gifts including a white gold heart necklace from the jeweler in town, an etched old fashion glass and perfume with her name, and a few small items that Bella's assistants picked up in town. "You got engaged 12 hours ago, how'd you do this? This is custom!" Beth cried out. Kayce looked between the two women as Bella replied, "My assistants were texted after our conversation this morning and they were given lists, money helped the expediting." They all laughed. Beth said softly, "It'd be my biggest honor, sister. I've dreamt of this day, praying I'd get to be involved, since you two were kids." Kayce said softly,"Me too, I'm glad she loves you just as much as I do sis." Beth let out a few tears then hugged Bella. Soon after the baker came out with a tray of cake flavors, icings, and fillings. "We need a cake for up to 200 people, 4 tier, elegant. Can you show us some inspiration photos? " Beth asked. "I like the chocolate cake with the cookies and cream filling and the white chocolate frostin, what do you think baby," Kayce said. "Same, we could do a traditional layer with the vanilla mousse and vanilla icing for the people who like vanilla," Bella questioned. "Make sure that top tier is the chocolate though Beth,we need that for our first anniversary" Kayce told Beth as she smiled."I love what this does to you Kayce," Beth said softly.
They picked a beautiful 4 tier cake, the icing was all white, with occasional clusters of white roses on the bottom three tiers but the top would look like tree bark with a heart surrounding a K+I. The next stop was the florist were Bella chose the flowers to be light pink and white peonies with white roses and eucalyptus. Beth placed the flower order along with the bouquet and the men's pieces. The flower order was $7500 and Kayce whispered, "Hey Beth, I can't afford that." She looked at him, "This one's on Daddy Kayce. He wants to pay for it all." He shook his head no as she cut him off, "Trust me, we just made a deal to start selling beef. His accounts are full, and he wants her to be happy. You've done this once before. It wasn't extravagant by any means but you've had one. It's her first. Let her have her dream wedding." Kayce looked at Bella who was talking to the florist across the room, then called John.
John- "Hey son, how goes the planning?"
Kayce-"It's good, it's the reason I'm callin'. Did you tell Beth you're payin' for the whole wedding?"
John-"Yeah I did. Don't worry about it. I want to do this."
Kayce-"Thanks for wanting to but no, I can't-"
John-"You can and you will. We're doin' real good with the beef. I'd like to see my son's wedding, the only one that should've happened, be their dream. I can afford it. Plus she's saved me a hell of a lot of money in attorney fees. Please let me do this Kayce. I want to."
Kayce-"Well thank you dad, l appreciate this."
John- "No thanks needed."
