They silently followed Filch, both knowing better than to try anything, and both trying to come up with cover stories. Marilyn thought maybe saying Ernie was missing would be good, but considering Malfoy was already out here yelling about dragons, the coincidence seemed too much.

Marilyn looked at her watch. One o'clock in the morning.

They waited in her office for a long time, but when she appeared, she seemed beyond furious.

"I wouldn't have believed any of you! It's one o'clock in the morning! Nothing, there is no reason for students to be out of bed! And you were up on the astronomy tower? Explain yourselves!"

They couldn't answer. They couldn't say anything. So, they looked at the slippers, and stayed silent.

"I know what's going on. Doesn't take a genius to work it out. I think you told Mr Malfoy some cock-and-bull story about a dragon, so he would be out of bed. Then I suppose it was by chance that the other pair heard you, hmm? Did you think it would be funny to see Malfoy get into trouble?"

They, once again, said nothing. Marilyn didn't know who the two other students were - Hermione? Neville?

"I am beyond disgusted!" She continued. "Five students out of bed in one night! I haven't heard anything like this since both your parents were at this school! Each of you will get detention- all five of you! And fifty points will be taken from Gryffindor!"

"Fifty?" Harry spoke up, now.

"Yes, Potter, fifty points each!"

Marilyn sat up. "Professor, it could be something more personal-"

"Do not tell me how to do my job, Miss Locke! Now, get back to bed! Now! I have never in my life been more ashamed of Gryffindor students!"

Though they went straight to bed as she said, there was a bit of a sliver lining the next day. though everyone believed there to be a mistake - 100 points gone in one night while everyone was sleeping had to be - there was 150 points gone from Slytherin, meaning they were still head of them, though only by a few dozen. Hufflepuff were now in the lead, while Ravenclaw was second.

But the story got out quickly. Harry Potter and a few other stupid first years had snuck out of bed and lost all the points, making them fall to second last place.

It was rather horrible, as Marilyn felt responsible. All those points lost, and all of Gryffindor suffering for her being stupid. Gryffindors, Ravenclaws and Slytherins stopped talking to them, though Hufflepuffs were a bit better. now being the top of the board, they thought it would be okay to check is Marilyn was okay in herbology, and ask her if she needed someone to talk to. Even the Seeker of their team, Cedric Diggory, told her the Gryffindors would love her again after her next Quidditch match, and complimented her skill. She still felt horrible, though.

The other three houses wouldn't bother lowering their voices when they insulted her or Harry or spoke badly of Harry or her. Even Quidditch was a pain, with Alicia, Angelina, Katie and Oliver not speaking to her, and calling her 'The Seeker' if they were talking about her.

"It's not that bad," George said to her as they walked towards lunch one evening, him on one side of her and Fred on the other.

"Yeah, we've lost plenty of house points, and everyone get's over it eventually," Fred added.

"Really?" She raised an eyebrow. "You guys ever lost 150 points in one go?"

"Well, no-" George interrupted Fred by elbowing him. "Over the course of a month, we lost way more than that in our first year."
