"In the original plan, Cowell would tamper with the water tank rope and the number selector, securing his target." Paimon started. "When the magic box containing Halsey was lowered, the metal hook would retract gradually and pierce the balloon at the top of the box." She continued. "When the balloon attached to the box popped, the Water from the Primordial Sea inside it would pour down and dissolve Halsey. Afterward, Cowell would enter the tunnel and break the flower vase to conceal the water inside the tunnel, with the remaining evidence being covered up by the water tank onstage." The flying creature added. "But he encountered something unexpected in the tunnel, and wound up being fatally hit by the same water tank he meant to use to cover his tracks." Paimon finally finished.
"Huh, that does make sense." An audience member approved. "That actually links together a lot of the more confusing pieces of evidence." Another audience member said while being certain.
'Oh dear, what do I do? Even I think they sound convincing now! Have I falsely accused an innocent person? Ugh, what a humiliation...' The Hydro Archon thought in embarrassment.
"Now, it seems like the only point of contention remaining is the exact circumstances that led to Cowell's death." Lyney said. "His notes mentioned he had an accomplice who could be related to the situation..." He added. "On that note, the Gardes have just contacted me indicating that they uncovered new evidence. I shall now invite him onstage to share with us." Neuvillette said. The Garde went onstage and then began to talk. "Thank you, Your Honor. We were just inspecting the luggage of the other people involved in this case... And we found an identical sample of the Water from the Primordial Sea among Lyney's personal effects!" He said which made the whole audience shocked and Lyney himself too. "W-What!?" He yelled in shock and confusion. Lynette stepped up too. "That can't be." She said also in shock. "Hehe, oh I see! Well, how wonderful comedic, to have your own counterattack only come back and wound you!" Furina laughed while crossing her arms. "Does this not clear all doubt?" She asked. "My death citizens, my loyal audience, allow me to present my reasoning and bring this performance to a swift close." The white-blue haired female started and then began to explain.
"Oh no... Paimon can't think of anything either. It doesn't look like there's any way around this!" Paimon said with her hand on her head after Furina finished explaining. "Ugh, seems using the water as new evidence was too good a move... why did this have to happen now?" She added after turning around to Y/n and Aether. "I think we've all seen enough now, and we have ample witnesses to my flawless reasoningy." Furina said and the looked up. "I believe this is indeed the "finale."" She added and then looked to Neuvillette. "Now then, my good, noble Chief Justice, should we not, in your view move-" Furina began but then got interrupted by a blonde haired female. "Excuse me, everyone, but I must interject!" She shouted with her hand on her chest. "Miss, I must ask you not to shout and to respect the ongoing legal proceedings." The Chief Justice said with a serious tone. "Oh, come on, don't be hasty. I have a good reason for interrupting, you know. Now, would anyone here like to take a little break from all this debate, and see a little magic?" Navia said. "I'll show you an amazing trick, one that can bring a young woman who has "disappeared" back in the flesh, right before our very eyes! Please do the honors Ms. Lyney. if you would be so kind." She added while looking at the magician.
"Wh-What in the world is she saying?" An audience member said in confusion.
"No offense, Miss, but miracles like that are beyond my scope as a magician." Lyney said. "Come on now, don't be silly. Magic is all about misdirection, isn't it? It often conceals the truth while presenting a fascinating illusion. But once everyone believes the illusion, can't magic reveal the truth to them once again?" Navia said. "And wouldn't such a trick be the most marvelous finale to today's performance?" She added and the looked at both Lyney and Lynette. "Come on, Lyney and Lynette. Give it another go. Don't worry - Spina di Rosula has made the necessary arrangements on your behalf. But as the magic- makers and stars of the show, I think I should leave the final performance to you." She said to them.
Lyney thought for a second and then nodded his head. "I understand." He said and then snapped his fingers. "And voila!" Lynette said. Suddenly lights were turned on. They were pointing at the box from Lyneys previous magic show. On the right of the box was standing Silver and on the left Melus. The door suddenly opened and inside of it was a woman. She slowly stepped out. "Um... Uh, sorry for the interruption." She said awkwardly with her hands together.
"Wait, isn't that Halsey? So the whole thing about people dissolving wasn't true after all?" One of the audience members said surprised.
"To be clear, I'm only here because this person told me that if I testified, the merit of doing so would lessen my sentence..." The woman said while looking at Navia. "I was hiding outside this room listening to the proceedings because I was afraid that I would be the one put on trial..." She admitted. "I was just feeling happy that no one had noticed me... and then before I knew it she caught me." The woman said and then looked up at Navia again. "Hehe, that'll teach you to underestimate us three." The blonde haired female said proudly. "Where should I begin... *sigh* I'm sorry. I'm the one who killed Cowell, I admit it." The woman admitted making everyone shocked. "Wh-What? Why?" Furina asked in complete shock. "Firstly, my name isn't Halsey. It's Liliana, and I'm originally from Mondstadt." Liliana said. "I heard that Lyney's show was going to be a real thriller, but I missed the chance to buy a ticket so I stole one. That's how I make a living, I steal stuff here and there... and I'd never been caught before." She continued. "But I was noticed at the harbor a few days ago, and I barely got away. Lyney was the one who caught me in the act." She added. "Hey, no wonder you look familiar. So you were the thief! Lyney even mentioned that you were pretty skilled." Paimon said now realizing who she is. Liliana was looking at Paimon but then looked down. "Well, and I thought that would've been the end of it, but then the number selector chose me." She said. "He even mentioned the Fortress of Meropide. That's a prison, isn't it? So you can imagine how shocked I was - I thought he was onto me for sure." She explained. "So I played along with the show while looking for an opening to flee, but then I got water poured on me for no reason, and then someone jumped into the tunnel to nap me..." Liliana continued. "I wasn't going to take that lying down, so I knocked him out stuffed him into the box. There was nowhere to run from there, though, so I had to change my clothes and hide in a box containing performance costumes. I slipped out after the first Garde arrived at the scene and continued hiding inside the opera house." She added.
"Can a person even hide in there?" Paimon asked confused. "A professional thief could make it work." Y/n said while looking directly at Liliana which made the woman look away.
"But I swear I didn't know that the water tank would fall down. Really, I swear it!" Liliana quickly said. "Had I known that, I wouldn't have put him in the magic box! I may be a thief, but I'm no killer!" She added.
"Well, that makes everything pretty clear now, doesn't it?" Paimon said while turning toward the two traveler. They both nodded. "Yeah. Now it's time to refute the Hydro Archons previous reasoning." Aether said. 'This time, we need to tell the entire story from Liliane's perspective.' He thought. After they discussed everything Paimon started to tell what happened to everyone.
While that was happening Y/n suddenly got these voices and "flashbacks" again.
"Y/n, ____, wake up." ______ said and then threw a pillow at the two sleepyheads. Both of them groaned lazily in annoyance. "5 more minutes" the boy next to Y/n said. He then put his arm and leg around the h/c haired girl. Y/n put her arm around him too and her leg as well. They were cuddled up to each other. ______ suddenly pushed ____ off the bed which made him groan in pain. "Ow! ______!" He lazily stood up and held his back in pain. The girl that pushed him didn't care and went straight to Y/n and gently shook her. The tired h/c female pushed her hand away and then turned away from her to continue sleeping which made ______ sigh. She suddenly dragged Y/n out of the bed. "Hey!" Finally opening her eyes the sleepy female yelled while the other female dragged her. The male saw this happening and laughed at Y/n.
Y/n held her head in pain. 'It's happening again.' She thought while holding her hand in her hand but then put her hand down not to attract any attention. She didn't want them to be worried again.
Paimon continued explaining while Y/n regained her posture.
While all that was happening someone was watching her every step.
"Hm, interesting..."
