Catching Up With Adam

It's the next day and Cinder had decided the fourth member of her team should be Neo since she could disguise herself with ease. Her power would also be a great help in the coming days. So with everyone else, minus Roman, gone, I decided to go to Mt Glenn, check up on Adam and the other White Fang members. Roman didn't care where I went so long as I made sure to come back soon.

After a long travel, I find myself in the underground tunnels under the desolate city. The White Fang were busy moving Dust onto the train, filling all the carts up. The plan was once we had enough Dust, we'd send the train through to Vale and open a hole right in the center of the city. Panic would ensue which would draw the Grimm, inspiring more fear and terror in the people. And considering how close we're doing this to the Vytal Festival, tensions would be at an all time high so when Cinder did whatever she needed to in the Vytal Festival, it'd be the push over the edge Vale needs to be swarmed with Grimm. And the distraction Cinder would need to get under Beacon Academy and claim whatever it was she needed.

I tap a White Fang soldier on the shoulder, but as soon as they lay eyes on me, they run off, terrified of me. I let out an annoyed sigh. Ever since I was discovered to only be able to eat Grimm flesh, everyone avoided me like a plague. Everyone except Adam and Blake. Speaking of Blake... I haven't seen her in a long time. I don't even think she came with us to Mt Glenn.

I approach the train and see Adam instructing some of the Faunas where to put some of the Dust. He senses me and turns around, smiling.

Adam: Brother! It's good to see you're well.

He opens his arms and I smile, hugging him. He pats my back before we separate.

Adam: How are things in Vale? You're not being mistreated, I hope?

I shake my head, making his smile grow.

Adam: I'm glad. So what brings you here?

I point at him, saying I wanted to check on him. The bull Faunas chuckles.

Adam: I'm fine. Just... Well... Have you heard?

I frown, unsure of what he means. He takes a deep breath before continuing.

Adam: Blake... She... She defected from the White Fang. She left us earlier when the two of us were on a mission to hijack an Atlesian train full of Dust. It would've put us ahead of schedule. But mid-way through the mission, she cut off the trains and took off without me. I hate to say it Mutasim, but... She's not with us. Which means she's against us. And our people have reported that she's in Vale, attending Beacon Academy.

My eye widens, stunned by this news. How much did I miss while I was gone?! And Blake... She was really gone? Just like that? I take a moment to process the information that was dumped on me, but the main part that runs through my head is that Blake is at Beacon Academy, where we were supposed to attack! Maybe I could find her and try to find out what happened, why she left.

Adam: I know you're confused and upset. But we have a mission to do. We can't let anyone get in the way. Not even Blake. Do you understand?

Looking back at Adam, I nod slowly. In all honesty, I sincerely wished it wouldn't come down to me having to choose between Blake and Cinder. I may have grown up with Blake, but Cinder was the first. I just got her back after so long, I couldn't leave her.

Adam: Let's talk about something else. Are you feeling okay? Hungry?

I shake my head, answering no to the hungry question. I then turn to the train and nod at it, wanting to know the progress. Adam nods and wraps an arm around my shoulder.

Adam: Well, that human, Roman Torchwick knows exactly where to strike to get the Dust we need. Just a few more heists and I think we'll be ready. The humans won't even know what hit them. How goes our allies' preparations?

I give Adam a thumbs up. He pats my back with a larger grin.

Adam: Excellent. Soon, we'll make the humans fear us just as we used to fear them.

I nod and pat his back. We hug for a few more seconds before pulling away from each other.

Adam: Do you plan on staying a little longer or perhaps Cinder has more work for you?

I shake my head, saying I should probably head back now. Adam nods.

Adam: Very well. But I am curious. How do you know her? When I saw the two of you back in the tent... I don't think I've ever seen you that way with a human before.

I place my hand at the waist to say I was younger when we met.

Adam: I see. You mean when you were in the orphanage?

I nod my head. While I would've liked to speak in sign language, I don't think Adam ever bothered to understand it so I had to settle for more simplistic gestures.

Adam: Well... If you trust her, then so will I. For now, at least.

I nod and begin to make my way back to Vale, waiting for the next stages of the overall plan.

Considering how large scale the endgame of this plan was, my only concern was regarding Cinder making it out unscathed.
