He's Already Dead
I have a date with my girlfriend today. She's sweet and clingy. I met her back in 10th grade.
We've been together for a bit of time and today will be another day we will spend together. She's always with me and honestly doesn't want to separate— not even for a moment.
It's not like it would be our first ever date but this girl is excited as usual:
『Hehehehe. Please wait for me! I'm already nearby!』 she says with her lilt voice. I can feel her excitement through the phone. It made me smile.
I put my phone down and cross the street. I want to buy some drinks.
In this small food stall, someone in tuxedo is drinking in the middle of the day. His clothes are disheveled and he reeks of alcohol and sweat.
He's currently with someone, I don't know if he's his friend or not but this guy is far worse than him.
It's as if he's about to die in any second.
“....hic.. I understand... What can I even do though...? It's my fault t-that.. I.. lost her. If only— hic.. gahh.. If only I wasn't so cowardly back then, I probably will have a child with her by now..”
“...Djid shamvody Ishtole your— hic— your.. your.. GF away from you?”
“Kehh~ Nobody stole her from me.. agh.. I.. well.. I kind of had.. agh fuck. I have never confessed to her once. She never has been mine. But I know she knows I like her...”
“Yetch shwe Ishtill married shamvody elsh?! Shamelessh wuman!”
“Bro— hic.. don't say that.. It's my fault. Why would she wait for somebody who seems like he had no intention of pursuing her...? She probably was full of doubt.. and hahh~ finally given up.”
“You ishtill jefend her?? I guessh it's fine. Bwut jhere's still wa lot of wuman out there!” the disheveled guy says before passing out.
“.............,” he looks at the bottle of alcohol seemingly in daze. I even take my seat in between them yet neither take notice.
This guy is reminiscent of the past.
His fellow on the other hand looks dead.
“What's for you, boy?” the owner asks while putting the dishes down.
“Soda please.”
“Alright,” he takes a bottle from the fridge and gives it to me.
I take it and ask, “Kuya, did they buy all these beers from you?”
“Hahaha. No way. I don't sell beer. They bought it there,” he points behind me. There's a variety store on the other side of the street. Four housewives are talking— or rather gossiping together.
“They've been here since morning. In fact, that guy who's sleeping beside you has been drinking already when I opened my stall,” he adds.
Ah. I knew it…
“Huhuhuhu…” kuya vendor gets interrupted when somebody cries all of sudden.
I wonder what happened to him. Though I already have a clue about it.
This guy is just an acquaintance. The first time we met was in this place as well, I was bored last week and decided to eat here.
He was so happy to tell me— a complete stranger who's not even 18 years old, that he finally had the courage to confess to his childhood sweetheart after three decades of being indecisive.
