—The morning sunlight streamed into the dormitory through the tall arched windows of Ravenclaw Tower, casting golden rays across the navy-blue hangings of Jamie's four-poster bed. She was still buried under the warmth of her blankets, lost in the remnants of a dream she couldn't quite remember.

Outside, a faint hoot echoed. Jamie stirred but didn't fully wake until a sharp knock rattled her door.

"Jamie! Jamie, wake up!"

It was Noah's voice, insistent and impatient. Jamie groaned, pulling the blanket over her head.

"It's almost lunch! You're going to miss everything if you don't get up!"

Jamie sighed dramatically, tossing the blanket aside. She rubbed her eyes and sat up, her short and black hair sticking out in every direction. As she did, her owl, Ember, hooted again from its perch by the window, flapping its wings as if scolding her for oversleeping.

"All right, I'm up, I'm up," she muttered, swinging her legs out of bed and shuffling to the door. She opened it to find Noah standing there, looking slightly disheveled himself, though his face was lit with excitement.

"Finally!" he exclaimed, leaning casually against the doorframe. "What were you doing, hibernating?"

Jamie rolled her eyes. "It's Saturday. I can sleep in if I want to."

Noah didn't seem to care about her protests. "You're missing all the action. Everyone's already down in the Great Hall—it's packed. The delegations are still there, and—" He paused for dramatic effect. "The Goblet of Fire is on display."

That got Jamie's attention. "Wait, the Goblet is in the Great Hall?"

"Yes! It's this giant, magical, flaming cup. Dumbledore gave a whole speech about how students can put their names in starting tonight. You should've been there!"

Jamie frowned, leaning against the door. "I thought only students who are seventeen or older could enter."

"They can," Noah said with a shrug. "But you know some people are already trying to figure out ways around that."

Jamie felt a knot of unease tighten in her stomach. She could easily imagine Al-Baydah standing near the Goblet, her sharp mind quietly calculating.

"Why are you so excited about this?" Jamie asked, narrowing her eyes at Noah.

He hesitated for a moment, his usual eagerness faltering. "Because it's history in the making! Don't you want to see who puts their names in? It's not every day we get to witness something like this."

Jamie didn't fully believe him, but she was too tired to press further.

"All right, fine," she said, running a hand through her messy hair. "Give me five minutes to get ready."
