—Last night immediately faded, the light of dawn peaking in Jamie's dorm room. Well, thats until a loud knock ruined her peaceful sleep.
Jamie groaned as the incessant knocking at her dormitory door jolted her from sleep once again. She buried her face deeper into the blankets, hoping whoever it was would just give up and go away.
But, of course, she should have known better.
"Jamie! Wake up!" Noah's voice rang out from the other side of the door. "Your sister's outside the common room! She's waiting for you!"
Jamie sat up abruptly, her hair a mess and her mind foggy. "What?" she called back, her voice hoarse with sleep.
"You heard me!" Noah replied, his tone hurried. "Al-Baydah's here, and she's not exactly patient!"
Jamie sighed, rubbing her eyes. "Alright, alright! I'm coming!" she shouted, throwing off the blankets.
Noah's voice softened slightly, though he still sounded eager. "Good. And hurry! You know how intimidating she can be when she's kept waiting."
Jamie rolled her eyes, quickly pulling on her robes. She glanced at the clock—barely past seven. She muttered a string of half-coherent complaints under her breath as she slipped on her shoes and grabbed her wand.
When she opened the door, Noah was leaning against the wall, looking far too alert for this hour of the morning.
"You're really making this your routine, huh?" Jamie said, narrowing her eyes at him.
Noah grinned sheepishly. "Hey, someone's got to make sure you don't sleep through the entire morning."
Jamie ignored him, brushing past and heading toward the Ravenclaw common room's exit. As she reached the door, she could see Al-Baydah waiting on the other side, her arms crossed and her expression unreadable.
"Morning," Jamie said, pushing the door open and stepping into the hallway.
"Finally," Al-Baydah said, her voice sharp but not unkind. "I was starting to think I'd have to drag you out myself."
"Blame him," Jamie said, jerking her thumb toward Noah, who had followed her out. "He let me know you were here."
Al-Baydah's eyes flicked to Noah, who immediately stiffened under her gaze. "I see," she said coolly.
Noah gave a nervous laugh. "Just doing my part!"
"Good for you," Al-Baydah replied, her tone dismissive. She turned her attention back to Jamie. "Can we talk? Alone?"
Jamie nodded quickly, sensing the seriousness in her sister's voice. "Of course."
As the sisters began to walk down the corridor, Noah called out after them, "I'll just... go get breakfast then!"
