—As the sun dipped lower over the castle, the halls of Hogwarts buzzed with chatter about the first task of the Triwizard Tournament. Al-Baydah, alongside Cedric, Harry, Fleur, and Viktor, had successfully completed the challenge, earning cheers and admiration from their respective houses. Al-Baydah, though exhausted, had an unshakable determination in her eyes as she headed back to the Slytherin common room.
Meanwhile, in his dorm, Noah stood in the middle of the chaos that had once been his neatly organized space. His nose still bled from George's earlier punch, the crimson streaks staining the handkerchief he pressed against it. His eyes darted around, taking in the overturned books, missing sketches, and the absence of his diary.
"Damn it," Noah muttered under his breath, his free hand balling into a fist. He wasn't stupid—he knew exactly who had done this. Jamie and Cho. They'd snooped, and worse, they'd taken his things.
His mind raced as he began formulating a plan. He couldn't let them pin this on him. Not when he was so close to executing what Barty had promised. Noah grabbed a blank piece of parchment and began writing furiously, crafting a convincing cover story.
"Someone's setting me up. They broke into my dorm and planted false evidence... That's what I'll say. If I act outraged enough, no one will question it. I'll tell Al-Baydah that Jamie is trying to sabotage me out of jealousy. She'll believe me. She always does."
Noah smirked to himself, his confidence returning. By the time he was done, he had rehearsed the perfect act of innocence.
Meanwhile, in the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, Jamie, Cho, and Hermione sat at their desks, exchanging nervous glances. The room was dim, the only light coming from the flickering torches on the walls.
Jamie's stomach churned with anxiety as she thought about the diary and the dark truths it revealed. Every moment spent in this room, waiting for Moody—or rather Barty Crouch Jr.—to appear, felt like torture.
Hermione leaned closer to Jamie, her voice low. "Are you sure you want to do this? Confronting him in class could be dangerous."
Jamie nodded, though her hands trembled. "We have to be careful. If he knows we're onto him, he might... I don't know. Do something. But we need to figure out what he's planning, Hermione."
Cho, sitting beside Jamie, whispered, "What if we just observe for now? See if he slips up. We can't afford to make the first move without proof."
Before Jamie could respond, the door creaked open. The three girls immediately straightened in their seats as Professor Moody entered the room. His heavy, uneven footsteps echoed ominously, and his magical eye swiveled in its socket, scanning the room.
"Settle down, settle down," Moody barked, his voice gravelly and commanding. He reached the front of the room, his mismatched eyes locking onto each student in turn.
