The Next Day, Approaching Nepal, 7:12 A.M.
The Overwatch transport sliced through the icy winds of the Himalayan peaks. Snow whipped against the windows, and the jagged cliffs below seemed to stretch endlessly. Inside, the atmosphere was tense.
Jack stood near the holomap display, addressing the team. "The facility's buried deep in this range, isolated for decades. Rogue signals have been leaking from it for weeks, and if Liao's right, these aren't just random disturbances. They're coordinated. We're going in to figure out what's going on."
Reyes leaned back in his seat, a smirk playing on his lips. "Coordinated omnics in a forgotten lab? This'll be fun."
"Let's not turn this into a shootout if we can avoid it," Jack countered.
Torbjörn tightened the straps on his equipment pack. "If we've learned anything, it's that omnics like these don't go quiet for long. I'm guessing whatever's in there will give us trouble."
Shaun listened from the back of the cabin, his rifle resting across his knees. He wasn't technically Overwatch yet-not officially-but Jack had made it clear he needed all hands for this one. His eyes wandered to the serene yet desolate landscape, an eerie contrast to the battles he'd fought. Liao noticed his silence but chose not to comment.

The team emerged from the thick snow into a clearing where the sanctuary stood, a crumbling stone structure partially reclaimed by nature. Vines crept along its weathered walls, and sunlight filtered through the canopy above, casting dappled shadows across the moss-covered courtyard. A faint hum of activity emanated from within-omnics moving with quiet purpose, their metallic forms blending into the tranquil surroundings.
Jack raised a hand, signaling for the team to halt as he took in the scene. "This must be it," he said quietly, his voice tinged with cautious relief.
Liao stepped forward, her gaze sweeping over the peaceful omnics repairing one another and tending to their surroundings. "They don't look like fighters," she murmured. "Just survivors."
"Let's keep it that way," Reyes muttered, his hand instinctively resting on his shotgun.
Shaun lingered at the back, his eyes darting around the sanctuary. For a moment, he allowed himself to feel the calm of the place-a stark contrast to the chaos of the mission that had led them here.
The sanctuary was eerily quiet, a stark contrast to the chaos they had left behind. Nestled within a secluded mountain pass, the crumbling structure appeared ancient, its stone walls worn and weathered. Yet, the energy within was palpable-serene, almost sacred.
Scattered around the sanctuary were omnics, their frames dusty and worn but their movements calm, deliberate. They weren't soldiers. These were refugees, survivors seeking shelter in a world that had long turned against them.
Jack stepped forward, his boots crunching against loose gravel as he surveyed the scene. His sharp gaze softened at the sight of an omnic assisting another, repairing a damaged arm with careful precision. "Looks like we found the right place," he murmured, his voice low.
Torbjörn and Reyes followed close behind, their hands never straying far from their weapons. Shaun and Liao lingered at the edge of the group, the former's rifle slung over his shoulder. Their eyes scanned the sanctuary, a mix of awe and unease flickering in his expression.
One of the omnics, a tall figure with a faintly glowing chassis, stepped forward. "You have nothing to fear here," it said in a calm, measured tone. "We do not fight. We only seek peace."
Jack nodded slowly. "We're not here to bring trouble," he replied. "We're here to ensure your safety. The facility we're investigating might be compromised, and we need someone who knows the terrain to guide us."
