- "It didn't matter what we did—every plan, every strategy—they always caught us. And for every action against Anthony, there was a reaction from his mother or him against me, Francis, or Dorothea," she says, staring into the void while wiping away a tear.

- "What kind of reaction?" Dr. Linda asks, concerned.

- "The kind that makes you wish it would stop; sometimes it was psychological, other times physical. And they wouldn't stop until they had destroyed you."

- "How long did it last? Did you have other ways out?"

- "No," she says, clenching her hands into fists.

- "But you managed to get out at some point. Otherwise, you wouldn't be here."

- "Yes. But during all my captivity, I only managed to leave once without Anthony and his mother by my side."

- "Then tell me about that time. It sounds like it was a good day."

- "It was, at first," Violet says, sighing and sitting down. "But as the day went on, it wasn't entirely."

- "Ho, ho," said Stefan.

- "What is it?" Caroline asked by his side.

- "He knows about that day," Violet said.

- "I didn't know everything that happened to you; you can't judge me for that," Stefan replied.

- "Of course I can because I tried to explain it to you, but you didn't listen. Instead, you did something worse: you let it keep happening," Violet retorted.

- "There was nothing I could do."

- "Yes, there was, but you chose not to," she said as she stood, shoving her chair backward. It crashed into the wall and shattered. "You preferred to leave at night on your own, abandoning me in your house with nothing but a note. A damned note to explain everything about who you were, instead of telling me to my face because you wanted to return to Mystic Falls!" Violet laughed bitterly. "And that's your Mystic Falls hero—a real Prince Charming who leaves someone defenseless against anything else."

She turned her back to him and continued, "But don't worry, Stefan, you weren't the only vampire I encountered that night. Let's play a game my kids and I always play when we're bored: I'll give clues about a person I'm describing. If they don't admit it's them and someone else guesses before they confess, they'll face torture—administered by Maze," she said, nodding at the demon. "But for this game, I have one rule: the next names I call out can't say anything because they already know who it is."

- "Honey, are you sure this is a good idea?" Dean asked.

- "Yes, the world needs to know the truth. The game? It's partly for fun, partly for revenge," Violet replied.
