The board exams had begun, and Ananya was giving it her all. Each day brought a new paper and a new set of challenges, but she faced them head-on. The fear and trauma of the past few months hadn't disappeared, but they had become a quiet shadow that lingered in the background rather than consuming her.
Every time she sat down to write, she reminded herself of her grandfather's words, the unwavering support of her family, and the promise she made to herself—to rise no matter what.
One evening, after finishing her Math exam, Ananya returned home exhausted but relieved. As she placed her bag on the chair, her mother handed her a plate of snacks.
"You're doing great, beta," her mother said, her smile warm and encouraging.
Ananya nodded, but deep down, the pressure was building. She had always been a high achiever, and the expectations she placed on herself felt heavier with every passing day.
POV (Ananya's Thoughts):
What if I fail? What if everything I've worked for falls apart? No, I can't think like that. I've come too far to let fear win.
One night, while revising late into the evening, she received a message on her phone. For a moment, her heart sank, fearing it was another hateful message. But when she opened it, she saw it was from Arjun.
"Proud of you, Anu. Just a little more to go. Remember, you're stronger than anything life throws at you."
A smile crept across her face, and for the first time in a long while, she felt a spark of confidence.
The final day of exams came faster than she had expected. It was her Science paper, a subject she loved but also feared because of its complexity. She sat in the exam hall, her palms slightly sweaty, her mind racing. But as the clock ticked and she began writing, she found herself slipping into a rhythm.
When the bell rang to signal the end of the paper, Ananya put her pen down and took a deep breath. She had done her best, and that was all that mattered.
POV (Ananya's Thoughts):
It's over. I did it. Dadu, I hope you're proud of me. I hope all of you are.
That evening, her family surprised her with a small celebration at home. They knew how hard she had worked and wanted to show her how proud they were. The house was filled with laughter and light, and for the first time in months, Ananya allowed herself to relax.
Her mother hugged her tightly. "You've made us proud, beta. No matter what happens, remember that."
Arjun added with a grin, "And don't forget, no matter the result, you've got a brother who thinks you're a rockstar."
But as the days passed and the results drew closer, Ananya found herself slipping back into anxiety. The weight of expectations, the fear of failure, and the lingering memories of the trauma she had faced all began to resurface.
One night, unable to sleep, she sat by her window, staring at the stars.
POV (Ananya's Thoughts):
Dadu, if you're out there somewhere, give me a sign. Tell me it's all going to be okay.
Just then, a cool breeze swept through the room, rustling the curtains and brushing against her face. For a fleeting moment, she felt a strange sense of calm, as if her grandfather was near, telling her to hold on, to trust herself.
As days passed after the exams, Ananya found herself battling waves of anxiety. The fear of failure and lingering memories of past trauma kept her awake at night. One evening, she sat by the window, clutching the bracelet her Dadu had given her, silently asking for strength. A cool breeze brushed her face, and for a moment, she felt his presence, as though he was reassuring her that everything would be okay.
The next morning, she decided to focus on herself. While cleaning, she found an old journal with a list of dreams she had written years ago. Become a doctor. Make Dadu proud. Stay happy.
Arjun walked in and noticed the list. "You've already done so much of this," he said with a smile. "And you're making Dadu proud every single day."
Ananya's heart swelled at his words. Though the storm wasn't over, she realized she wasn't alone. She was learning to find strength in her family, her memories, and herself..
