The day Evangeline Clarke walked down the aisle was meant to be the best day ever for her. And it was. The year was 1885 her and Henry had married each other despite being together for a year. Evangeline had come from a wealthy family and Henry had told everyone that he did to. They were the perfect couple. They got together when when Evangeline was 17 engaged at 18 and married at 19. She was now Evangeline Jones. They got a lovely house together in Kent, England near to Evangelines parents where Henry said they will settle down. Henry said he was a chronic snorer so they found a house that had enough bedroom for two kids when they are older and the couple to sleep in separate rooms.

Just after marriage Henrys sweet demeanour had twisted into something more dark and sinister and closer every day his light dimming and the relationship became toxic. Evangeline tried to support her husband with her house wife duties but he acted like she never did enough. Then he became more and more abusive making a house once filled with love now filled with dread. Evangeline was a shell of herself just after her 20th birthday and it was even worse when she saw her husband meeting with someone in town when Evangeline was out with a few friends getting groceries she knew she had to confront him despite the deep rooted fear. 10 months they were married and he was committing infidelity

Evangeline walked into the couples living room one night finally gaining the little shred of confidence she had "Hey Henry can i talked to you?" Henry sighed "Yes what is it?" Evangeline stood by their stairs just in case things turned sour. Henry was calm and sat on the sofa staring daggers "I saw you with that women hen. I thought you loved me and your-your' her voice becomes quiet and shaky her tears falling despite trying to not let it show and ignoring the eye contact with her husband 'you cheated on me. Don't try to lie. What happened to us? You were the sweetest man to me when we started courting and now. You dont even speak to me. You act like im incompetent leading you to hurt me" This time her eyes locked with Henry's who looked scary his eyes displaying his anger "I lied. I was with other women before you. You are innocent and pure i wanted a wife to take care of me not to be after my money. But you didnt know what i wanted you to do. You ruined this my Evangeline. We are in love. I love you. I dont care what i have to do you are not leaving me. We are soulmates." Evangeline nodded Henry's sharp tone indicating he didnt want any other response only this. Evangeline gained some courage she shouldn't have "I did love you. I still do. But you broke my trust. You hurt me in the worst way. I spend hours making sure the house is perfect. I make meals you like not me every night just so you are happy just for you to take it in your room. Everyday you continue to build a wall and it feels like you are being more controlling than loving. I think we need a break Henry i cant cope with knowing everyday you are with another." Henry's eyes look manic "What did you just say to me. You arent leaving me." Evangeline watched as Henrys skin and eyes almost glitched causing her to gasp.

People told ancient stories of the pale ones being chased away from here hiding somewhere where the sun couldn't reach. ,"Your a v-vampire? What oh my god ." Henry's eyes now Reflecting a red hue and his skin pale "I have this neat trick where i can make myself look however i want. I made human me. I dont have wealth. Its the money i earned working and being alive since the 1500s." His wife's jaw dropped. "You dont sleep do you. Thats why you wanted a separate room. Did you really love me?" Evangeline asks timidly Henry lets out a laugh "sort of. I have a friend who can detect who is powerful. I wanted someone who could be with me for eternity possessing infinite  amounts of power and that's you. When i met you at the annual ball it wasn't a coincidence i knew what i wanted and i prepared for months to entice you in the most. When you are a vampire you will be a work of art." Evangeline looked at him "You used me for power? I dont want to be a vampire." Henry's eyes become terrifying "My dear Evangeline. Run. Hide from me. Don't let me find you. I really dont want to hurt you. Oh and for the record every women I sleep with i eat and kill." Henrys voice laced with a toxic venom when he said this ensuring every word is heard.

Evangeline ran up the stairs her dress slowing her down. She ran to the bathroom and locked the door then hid in the cabinet under the sink. Henry's thuds echoed making his wife's voice shake tears pouring from her eyes terrified. "Darling where are you. I can smell you. I can hear your heart beat. I know you're scared. We can iron this out i dont want to hurt you.' He laughed and then said in a singsong voice 'my Evangeline. I found you." Henry kicked down the door then pulled off the cabinet door and dragged her out by the hair "Wherever you are i will find you dear. Your eternal life will be miserable with me around." Evangeline now is held against the wall by her neck Henry is holding her up high "Hen. I wont be a vampire please just stop." Her tears and loud sobs echoed around the bathroom making him angrier "Just shut up. We are soulmates. This is what life should be. I have someone who loves me and i love them. God just shut up." He slammed his wife's head in the bathroom tiles cracking them and making her dizzy then looking at him "Please Henry. Let me go please." He had a glimmer of empathy before his deranged look returned "It's too late you know too much"

Henry grabbed Evangelines wrist he was stronger than her so her desperate attempts to pull away were in vain. He brought her wrist up to his mouth. "Your blood always smelt delicious." "Please no Henry dont!" Henry bit down into his wife's arm hard tasting the blood sending venom to spread around her arm causing a thousand fires to burn throughout to her  body causing her to scream. She felt her humanity slipping away. The humanity dying becoming a distant dream. Evangeline was dying. But someone new was born. Born in pain and hatred mixed with a sorrow of love. "Just shut up. I'm going to get pissed. I better see dinner on the table when im back in 3 days." Henry said throwing her on the hard floor causing his wife's head to crack and ooze blood and causing her to slowly pass out.

Evangeline awoke. 3 long days later. For those three days she went in and out of consciousness internally and externally screaming. Her physical injuries and wounds from the past few weeks had healed but the emotional scars remained. She staggered to the sink grabbing onto it for balance and finally seeing her eyes. The blood red colour matched with the pale skin glimmering from the gaps of the shutters in the bathroom pouring in the sun. The pain of the day she died felt as almost as painful as the venom still in her system. But instead of being sad Evangeline sort out to seek revenge. She went into her bedroom that was as tidy as when she left it then went into her husbands which was the same suggesting her sorry excuse of a husband was finding comfort in others. There she walked over to the safe and pulled out her marriage certificate and ripped it up into irreparable pieces then chucked her engagement and wedding ring on top of it. She grabbed some essentials in an old handbag that tucked away downstairs in the cellar and left her home. She needed to shower but first it's time to get out and be free and let Evangeline rest in peace.
