Mikha couldn't remember the last time she'd been this nervous before a date. It wasn't like she hadn't been on one before—she wasn't exactly inexperienced. But this? This felt different. Maybe because for the past few weeks, she'd been trying to convince herself that she couldn't want this, that she shouldn't want her. And now that she could finally stop pretending?
She had it bad for Aiah.
The whole week after their coffee shop confession had been a blur of texts—at first innocent exchanges about Enzo's latest practice video or shared memes about guitar lessons. But somewhere in between a teasing comment here and a playful compliment there, things had shifted. The texts became bolder, more charged.
Mikha found herself grinning like an idiot every time her phone buzzed with Aiah's name. Aiah wasn't just stunning—she was funny, smart, and when she flirted back? Damn, she knew how to leave Mikha feeling like the one being schooled. For the first time, Mikha felt like she could finally act normal around her—or at least as normal as one could act while harboring a full-blown crush on her students hot mom .
Correction—very hot mom. Her date.
She glanced at her reflection in the restaurant's glass doors for the third time, checking to make sure her outfit was still doing its job. She'd gone for a simple but sharp look: black trousers, a slightly loose white button-down, sleeves rolled up to her elbows, and her loafers. Casual enough to feel like herself but polished enough to show she'd made an effort. She'd even tamed her usually wild red hair into a neat, low bun.
The restaurant they'd picked in BGC was perfect—chic but not too pretentious, with warm lighting and an open layout that made it feel inviting rather than intimidating. Mikha had arrived fifteen minutes early, not wanting someone like Aiah to ever have to wait for her.
And then, Aiah walked in.
Mikha turned her head as the hostess greeted her, and the sight of Aiah hit her like a sucker punch to the chest.
Her hair flowed loosely over her shoulders, catching the soft golden light of the restaurant. She was wearing a lime green dress that hugged her figure perfectly, with a low V neckline that revealed just enough to make Mikha's brain short-circuit. Simple white heels completed the look, giving her an effortless elegance that made Mikha feel both incredibly lucky and completely unworthy all at once.
She'd always known Aiah was beautiful—her eyes worked just fine, thank you—but this? Seeing her like this, in this setting, with that soft, confident smile on her lips? Mikha was absolutely, unapologetically gobsmacked.
Her breath caught, and for a moment, she forgot how to function.
"Mikha," Aiah said, her voice light as she approached their table, her heels clicking softly against the floor.
Mikha stood up so quickly she nearly knocked over her chair, catching it just in time to avoid further embarrassment. "Aiah. Wow, uh..." She gestured vaguely at her, trying to find her words, but her brain had turned into static. "You... look amazing."
Aiah's smile widened, her dimples making an appearance, and Mikha felt like she'd been sucker-punched again. "Thank you," Aiah said, tilting her head slightly. "You look great too. Ang ganda ng suot mo. Very... effortless."
Mikha let out a slightly awkward laugh, brushing the back of her neck. "Thanks. I was going for 'cool and collected,' pero right now, medyo 'stunned' yata ang vibe ko."
"Stunned?" Aiah teased, raising an eyebrow as she slid gracefully into the seat across from her. "Is that a compliment?"
"It's a very big compliment," Mikha said, sitting down and trying not to stare too obviously. Damn, keep it together, she thought to herself.
