For some reason, my messages and social media feeds had been absolutely spammed with memes of dogs—specifically, fluffy golden retrievers being silly and adorable.

And I knew exactly who was responsible.

Aiah.

She had been obsessed lately.

Every few hours, she'd send me something—
A meme, a video, a random fact about golden retrievers that she had no business knowing.

And honestly?

I should've been tired of it by now.

But then—

"Bab, omg, take a look at this video!"

Aiah's voice was pure excitement as she ran into the kitchen, holding up her phone like she had just discovered the meaning of life.

She nearly crashed into me, shoving the screen in my face, eyes lit up, dimples showing, her whole face glowing with genuine joy.

And I—fuck.

I melted.

Because how was I supposed to focus on the dog when Aiah was right there, being the cutest person alive?

I barely glanced at the screen before looking back at her, completely distracted.

"Bub."

She wasn't even paying attention to me, too busy giggling at whatever was happening in the video.

"Look at him! Look at his little face!" she squealed, pointing at the dog, her entire body practically vibrating with excitement.

And God, I loved her.

Like, painfully.

I sighed dramatically, leaning against the counter, arms crossed.

"Babe, are you in love with me or a golden retriever?"

Aiah finally tore her eyes away from the screen, grinning at me.

"Bakit? Insecure ka?"

I scoffed. "Tangina, what if one day I wake up and you've replaced me with a dog?"

She giggled, stepping closer and resting a hand on my chest.

"Hmm. I mean... kung golden retriever ka naman, baka wala akong reklamo."

I rolled my eyes, pulling her in by the waist.

"Babe, kung ako ang golden retriever mo, ikaw yung owner na spoiled na spoiled ako."

Aiah snorted, burying her face in my shoulder. "Mikhs , ang pangit ng metaphor pero fine, I accept."

I grinned, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.

Because at the end of the day—

Golden retrievers might be her new favorite thing.

But I would always, always be hers.

Aiah was usually hyper-focused when we went jogging.

She was all about keeping pace, checking her watch every few minutes, and pretending like she wasn't flexing her endurance on me.

"Babi, dapat consistent tayo. Sub 6-minute pace, let's go."

Meanwhile, I was just trying not to pass out.
