The following week felt like a blur for Gianna. After her conversation with Hana, she found herself checking her phone more than usual, eagerly awaiting Hana's next message. It wasn't something she often did, especially not for someone she had only met online, but something about Hana's energy had struck a chord deep inside her.
Their messages flowed easily, and the calls became a regular part of her evenings. There was no pressure, no rush, just the simple pleasure of getting to know someone who seemed to understand her in ways that others hadn't.
Gianna had learned more about Hana in the past few days than she had expected. Hana's passion for art was contagious, and Gianna found herself researching art spots nearby, considering whether it might be something she could try out soon. Hana had also shared bits about her childhood, how she'd grown up in a small town where she'd always felt a bit out of place, until she found a community of people who embraced her for who she was.
And then there were the little things, the details that made Gianna smile—the way Hana's voice dropped an octave when she was being serious, the laugh that made Gianna's heart feel lighter, the quiet confidence that radiated from her even through a screen. Gianna found herself drawn to every little piece of Hana, and it left her wondering what it would be like to be around her in person.
That Saturday, after another week of texting, Gianna found herself scrolling through Instagram when a message from Hana popped up, causing her heart to race.
"Hey! So, I've been thinking. There's this art event happening next weekend at this really cool spot. Want to join me? It could be fun... we could finally meet in person."
Gianna's breath caught in her throat. It wasn't the first time Hana had mentioned meeting up, but this felt different. This was real. This wasn't just a call or a message on a screen; this was the chance to finally be face-to-face with the girl who had somehow become such an important part of her daily life.
She stared at the message for a moment, her mind racing with a mix of excitement and nerves. They had shared so much already, yet meeting in person was a different level. But then she realized she didn't want to shy away from it. She wanted to take the leap.
"That sounds awesome. I'm in."
Almost immediately, Hana replied with a string of excited emojis.
"Yesss!! I'm excited! It'll be fun. I can't wait to finally meet you."
Gianna smiled at her phone, feeling the butterflies in her stomach dance around. The anticipation of it all was almost overwhelming, but it was the good kind of nervous. She couldn't help but imagine what it would be like to stand next to Hana, to talk to her face-to-face instead of through a screen.
The days leading up to the event felt like they dragged on. Gianna kept herself busy, but her thoughts often wandered back to Hana. She found herself checking her phone a little more than usual, smiling at the random jokes and memes Hana would send. But there was always that lingering question in her mind: What would it be like in person? Would the connection still be there? Would they click the same way?
On the day of the event, Gianna spent a little more time than usual getting ready. She didn't want to overdo it—this wasn't a date, after all—but she wanted to look good. She wanted to make a good impression. After all, this was the first time she was meeting someone she had developed such a strong connection with, and she wanted to feel confident.
She decided on a simple, casual outfit: a fitted top, a pair of baggy jeans, and her favorite shoes practical, but still cute. She checked her reflection one last time before grabbing her keys and heading out.
When Gianna arrived at the art event, the energy of the place immediately hit her. The sounds of feet scraping against the floor, the chatter of artists discussing their work, and the faint hum of music from the speakers filled the air. Her heart raced as she walked through the entrance, scanning the area for Hana.
And then, she saw her.
Hana was sitting at a bench near the art wall, talking to a friend with a relaxed smile on her face. Her hair was pulled back into a messy bun, and she wore a black hoodie and athletic pants casual, but somehow still managing to look effortlessly cool. Gianna's breath caught in her chest, her pulse quickening as she walked toward her.
Hana noticed her almost immediately, her eyes lighting up when they made contact. She stood up quickly, a huge grin spreading across her face.
"Gianna!" Hana exclaimed, her voice carrying over the noise of the place.
Gianna couldn't help but smile back, feeling the excitement bubble inside her. This was real. She was here, standing in front of Hana.
"Hey, Hana," Gianna said, her voice a little quieter than usual as she took a step closer.
They stood there for a moment, just taking each other in. Gianna couldn't help but admire Hana's presence—how she carried herself with that calm, confident aura that had already captivated her through their calls and texts.
"You look even better in person," Hana said with a wink, her tone playful.
Gianna felt her cheeks warm at the compliment. "You too. I didn't expect you to look so... amazing."
Hana chuckled, stepping closer. "Guess we both clean up well."
Gianna laughed, feeling her nerves ease just a little. "So, uh... I've never drawn before."
Hana smirked. "It's alright. I can help you if you want." She gave Gianna a teasing look, making her stomach flutter.
"Sounds good," Gianna replied, laughing despite the nervous energy still buzzing in her chest.
They spent the next hour drawing together, with Hana showing Gianna the supplies (literally). Gianna was a little clumsy at first, but Hana was patient, offering encouragement and advice every step of the way. There was something about the way Hana made everything feel effortless that made Gianna feel more at ease with each passing moment.
As they finished their artwork, Hana turned to her with a soft smile. "So, did you have fun?"
Gianna nodded, her heart racing. "Yeah, I did. You're a really good teacher."
Hana's grin grew wider. "You did great. You'll be drawing like a pro in no time."
Gianna could feel the connection between them growing with each laugh, each moment of shared joy. It was natural, easy. And for the first time, Gianna didn't want the day to end.
As they sat down to rest, Hana looked over at Gianna, her expression softening. "I'm really glad we did this," she said quietly.
Gianna met her gaze, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. "Me too."
And in that moment, Gianna realized something she hadn't fully let herself admit yet: she was starting to fall for Hana.
