Gianna couldn't stop smiling. It had been two days since their kiss at Hana's house, and her mind kept replaying it like her favorite song. Everything about that moment the warmth of Hana's lips, the quiet sincerity in her voice afterward had settled into Gianna's heart, filling her with a giddy sense of hope.
But now came the hard part: navigating this new territory.
She stared at her phone, fingers poised over the screen as she debated what to type. A part of her wanted to keep things casual, not overthink it, but another part of her wanted to make it clear how much Hana meant to her.
Finally, she settled on a message.
"Hey, I can't stop thinking about Saturday. When are you free again? :)"
She hit send and immediately set her phone down, trying not to obsess over how Hana would respond.
Her phone buzzed barely a minute later.
"Same here. How about Friday night? We could grab dinner and hang out after?"
Gianna grinned. Hana always made things feel so easy, so effortless. She quickly typed back:
"Perfect. I'll leave the details to you."
Friday night arrived, and Gianna felt that familiar buzz of excitement mixed with nervousness. She had chosen a fitted red dress and heels. Something that she always went for when going out to eat.
When she stepped outside, Hana was already waiting by her car. She leaned against the driver's door, her usual confident smile softening as Gianna approached. Hana was dressed in dress pants and a button-up shirt, her suit jacket casually slung over her shoulder.
"You look amazing," Hana said as Gianna approached, her voice low but genuine.
Gianna felt her cheeks warm. "So do you."
Hana opened the car door for her, and Gianna slid in, her heart racing.
As they drove, they fell into easy conversation, Hana telling her about a new project she'd started at work and Gianna sharing stories about her students at the dance studio.
They ended up at a cozy Italian restaurant tucked away on a quiet street. It was the kind of place with dim lighting, red checkered tablecloths, and candles flickering on every table.
"This okay?" Hana asked as they walked in.
"It's perfect," Gianna said, smiling.
The dinner passed in a blur of laughter and stolen glances. Hana had a way of making even the smallest moments feel significant, like the world had slowed down just for them.
By the time they finished their meal, Gianna felt more at ease than she had in days. They decided to take a walk afterward, wandering through the quiet streets as the city lights twinkled above them.
At one point, Hana stopped walking and turned to Gianna. "I need to ask you something," she said, her voice steady but her expression a little nervous.
"Yeah?" Gianna asked, tilting her head.
Hana hesitated for a moment before continuing. "That kiss... the other day. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it."
Gianna's breath caught, her chest tightening as she waited for Hana to continue.
"I guess I just want to know what you're looking for," Hana said softly. "I don't want to push you into anything you're not ready for, but... I like you, Gianna. A lot. And I want to know if this is something you see going somewhere."
Gianna felt her heart swell at Hana's honesty. It wasn't easy to be so vulnerable, to put yourself out there like that. She took a small step closer, closing the distance between them.
"I like you too," she said, her voice just above a whisper. "And I do want this to go somewhere. I just... I haven't done this before. Not like this. But I want to figure it out—with you."
Hana's face broke into a relieved smile, her eyes softening. "We'll figure it out together," she said, her voice full of quiet determination.
For a moment, they just stood there, the world fading away as they looked at each other. Then, without thinking, Gianna leaned in, closing the distance between them.
The kiss was softer this time, slower. It felt like a promise, an unspoken agreement to see where this could go.
When they finally pulled away, Hana rested her forehead against Gianna's, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
"So, I guess this makes our second date a success," Hana said, her tone playful.
Gianna laughed, her heart feeling lighter than it had in a long time. "Definitely."
As they continued walking, Hana slipped her hand into Gianna's, lacing their fingers together. It was such a simple gesture, but it made Gianna's heart soar.
In that moment, she knew that whatever came next, she was ready for it, as long as Hana was by her side.
