I didn't get any sleep last night, Amanda's death on my mind. Mother was dangerous, and God knows what she could do if she was just asked a single question.
Everyone was given these walkie talkie like devices, something we were given the second day before we left the auditorium. We could hear the person asking the question and hear Mother's response.
Me and Pais went to stroll around town after going to our houses to change, fresh clothes felt nice. We met up at town square to hang out, acting as if we weren't in the hands of Mother.
"Mother, may I eat this plum?"
"You may."
"Mother, may I take a nap?"
"You may not."
"Mother, may I take a sip of my coffee?"
"You may not."
Our devices rung constantly, it sucked having to ask Mother for every little thing. We were just little toys for the government to play with until they got bored.
Paisley saw a flower field and got excited, flowers always brightened her mood. It made me smile, her happiness was like water in a desert, rare and absolutely treasured.
"Mother, may we go and play with the flowers?" Paisley asked Mother through the device, seeming really excited.
"You may." Mother responded, Pais grabbing my hand and going towards the variety of roses.
Sure, she was a 17 year old, yet she had interests of a 10 year old, something rare these days. It was refreshing now days. She was so pure, even after what happened every year.
The sky got gloomier than usual, signalling rainfall was about to happen. I tap her shoulder, looking up at the sky.
"Hey, Pais. We should go inside, it'll rain soon." I told her, she looked up at me with a frown.
"Oh.. Okay." She said, standing up and plucking a couple of sunflowers gently, putting one behind my ear and one behind her own. Her sweet gesture made me smile.
We went back to the auditorium, where many people were, probably hiding from the rain as well.
"Mother, may I have a sip of my water? I'm so thirsty.." A boy recognized as Micheal asked, looking pale.
"You may not." Mother answered, a groan escaping from him as he stared at the water bottle in his hand. It looked like it was hypnotizing him.
Before he knew it, he was opening it up and taking a sip of it.
"MIKE!!" One of his friends screamed before-
BAM!!!
A bullet went straight through his head, falling down as blood surrounded him, his water bottle spilling water beside him, creating a pinkish color to emerge around him.
Paisley flinched and ducked down, covering her vital organs, as if she was being the one targeted. Many others screamed or gasped in fear.
Micheal was a cool guy, usually chill and a nice person to talk to in general. It was sad to see him go so soon.
The lights turned off for a moment, a grunt coming from someone as they were pushed away from Micheal's corpse.
When the lights flickered on again, Micheal's body was gone along with any trace of blood, a horrified look on his friend's face.
This was not good at all.
