Chapter One

When twenty-four year old NYPD Detective James Harrison was called to the scene of a bank in Manhattan New York, he and his partner Ben Diemaet had ridden down to the scene and after putting the car in park, James and Ben got out of the car and headed to the crime scene.

James walked up to one of the police officers from the NYPD as he was standing there watching Medical Examiner Melinda Yovannie who was looking down at the body of a man who looked like could be the suspect of the bank robbery before he died. "What do we have going on here, Melinda?" says James as he walks up to Melinda.

"His name is John Wayne. He was the suspect of the bank robbery here that just happened two hours ago. Someone had just found their body here behind the bank and the cause of death was strangelation," says Melinda.

"So he was strangled to death?" wondered James.

    "Yeah," answered Melinda.

"Okay. How long did it last from the time he was alive until he died?" James asked.

"I would say no more than five minutes. Someone strangled this guy to death and he died shortly afterwards," says Melinda.

James sighed. James noticed as he looked close to John where he saw a tattoo on John's neck. "There is a tattoo on his neck," says James, as he leaned down on one knee. "Yeah. I noticed that as well. I would say he is probably a part of a gang or something. I mean, I can't tell for sure," says Melinda.

"Okay." James takes a deep breath and sighs. James stands back up. "Okay. My partner and I will go question some witnesses," says James, as he walks past Melinda. Ben follows James from behind.

James had walked up to this woman who was a witness and he took out his notepad and pen to write down some important information due to the case.

"Hi, I'm Detective Harrison and this is my partner Detective Ben Diemaet. Can we ask you a few questions," says James.

     "Yeah," answered the woman.

"Okay, so you were the one who witnessed the shooting of the bank robbery, and then you saw the suspect leave the bank before you found him lying on the ground," wondered James.

"Yes, that's correct," says the woman.

"Okay." James writes in his notepad.

"Can you tell me exactly what happened when you saw the suspect leave the bank? Have you noticed anything unusual about him? What he said to you or something?" says James.

"He really didn't say much except telling us to get down on our knees and lie down on the floor with our hands behind our backs. He was gonna rob a lot of money and he just left shortly afterwards," says the woman.

James writes down more information in his notepad. "Was he with anyone else? Were there other robbers or just himself?" wondered James.

"Just by himself. It happened so fast that he just got the money, shuffled it in his duffle bag and ran off. Until I decided to call the police and then I found him just lying there on the ground, dead," answered the woman.

James nods his head. "Okay. Thank you," says James, before he turned around and walked along with Ben as they headed back to the unmarked car parked at the crime scene.

At the New York Police Department, two days later; James was reading the file of John Wayne. James was reading the cause of death and some of the former crimes that John had committed before he died. James sighed. Ben was sitting across from James at his desk and James was sitting at his own desk and continued to read the file.
