Chapter Three

"Okay, so if Johnny Velva isn't the suspect, then who is," says James, to Ben.

"I mean, I don't know. Let's see, I had spoken to his mother, she hasn't seen him in years. So she probably doesn't know much about her son's death. And his father is deceased, so that's not much help. But I still think someone in John Wayne's life and who was close to him, had killed him. Johnny Velva said that John Wayne worked for Ray Thompson and that he's dangerous," says James.

Ben sighed. "Dangerous how?" wondered Ben.

James nods his head no. Until James was called to the scene again the same day Johnny Velva was interrogated.

After James and Ben went to another crime scene, James asked Melinda what happened. There was a woman lying on the ground, dead. She looked like she was tortured and then killed.

James asked Melinda how long did it take for this woman to die. Melinda said she was possibly raped and was stabbed and killed two days ago.

"Okay. Cause of death she was stabbed and it looked like she tried to fight for her life and unfortunately whoever killed her, got her good," says James.

"You don't think Ray Thompson has something to do with this woman's death," says Ben.

"Okay Ben, let's not jump to conclusions," says James, sighing.

At the medical examiner's office this time, James was with medical examiner Melinda once again and Melinda was explaining to James as an NYPD detective that the woman's name is Alisha Williams.

"Alisha was twenty-three years old and she suffered from blunt force trauma. And it showed semen on her thigh," explained Melinda.

      "Was she raped?" says James.

"Well, I did perform a rape kit on her, and it doesn't show enough evidence to specifically indicate that she was raped," says Melinda.

"How is that possible?" wondered James.

"Well the perp didn't leave any detectable DNA to prove that Alisha Williams was sexually assaulted. Because too much time has passed before the kit was used. If it was two days ago that she died, then the kit wouldn't justify who raped her," Melinda says.

"Okay, but her underwear was pulled down, and she was wearing a nightgown," says James.

"Yeah. But even though it doesn't show enough evidence that she was sexually assaulted, then I'm thinking she was possibly raped. It's just since she died two days ago, the kit can't confirm who raped this woman. But in my opinion, I'd say the perp did rape this woman because her underwear was pulled down. But if you'd do find the perp who did this to her, then I'm sure you can get them to confess that Alisha Williams was sexually assaulted," says Melinda.

"Okay. So she was possibly raped and then stabbed and killed. And I do see on her wrist that it looks like marks from being tied with a rope or something," says James.

"Whoever hurt this woman, I'd say he did a number on her," says Melinda.

"Okay. Thanks Melinda," says James, before turning around and leaving the medical examiner's office.

James walked back into the police department, and as he walked into the squad room, he heard Ben talking on the phone. Eventually Ben hung up the phone.

"Hey," says Ben, as he looks at James.

"Hey," says James, sitting down in his chair, at his desk.
