starr shoved another piece of chocolate into her mouth, the crinkling of the wrapper breaking the quiet tension in the room. she sat cross-legged on the plush carpet of her hotel suite, an empty box of chocolates scattered beside her, wrappers piling up as she ate through her frustration.

"i'm just so over it, kairi," she muttered, her words muffled by the mouthful of caramel she was chewing on. "i mean, he tells me one thing—one thing—and then goes and does the complete opposite. kisses her on national television like it's nothing."

kairi sat across from her, nodding in agreement, her eyes sharp with protective annoyance. "men are so trash. he had no reason to do that to you."

"exactly!" starr gestured wildly with a half-eaten bar of chocolate. "like, if ahliya's so important to him, if the whole image is what matters, then let him have her. i'm done being a secret, done with all this PR crap."

dylan was sprawled on the couch behind them, half-listening to the rant as he scrolled through his phone. he glanced up every now and then, not daring to interrupt the conversation. this was a full-on venting session between starr and kairi, and he knew better than to get involved. still, he kept an ear on starr, just in case she needed him.

kairi leaned in, her eyebrows raised. "and he had the audacity to act like he didn't even want to kiss her. like, boy, if you didn't want to, don't."

starr snorted bitterly, tossing another wrapper aside. "right? if you're so miserable in this fake relationship, get out. but no, he stays and plays the part, like i'm just supposed to wait around."

her phone buzzed suddenly, lighting up with a string of notifications. she glanced at the screen, her mood darkening even further as mason's name flashed repeatedly across it. missed calls. texts. again.

"oh, for god's sake," she muttered, rolling her eyes and flipping the phone screen down on the floor, shoving it away from her. "i'm not doing this. i'm not calling him back. i don't care what he has to say."
